Even though currency mining seems to be an easy get rich quick scheme, it does not come without risk, the main risk being: fire. If you have a relatively large mining operation with poor cooling, and you’re using bad power supplies with multiple extensions cables going into one outlet, something could catch fire very easily, making not only your rig worthless, but most likely your house too. not if ethereum is your only plan and you have to pay full price on cards. i can buy cards as business expense, so no tax for me. i can write them off, so they’re again half in price. i bought some to a decent low price, (gtx 1070 for 400€) so total expenses I need for break even is 180€ per card. this should/could work out. and if not, I can sell the cards off for half the price and still be able to break even (without any cent mined), although I would rather stick to it and mine for the only real reason to mine: support an idea. be it a crypto currency or something like folding at home.
This is really overpriced. Buy 4 7990 and get 200 MH/s for around 2600. MB, CPU, HD, PSU, riser cards and built an open air case for around $400. Then if it ever gets to the point mining isn’t profitable sell the cards etc. and save money and make more money than paying $4400 for 100 MH/s…
Isn’t there supposed to be some sort of difficulty reset since the PoS change is still so far off? The way I understood it, if the difficulty increases continued at the current rate PoW would become almost impossible before they were ready to switch over to PoS. So there was going to be some sort of a soft reboot of the difficulty level to breath some life back into the PoW system. Or am I mistaken?

You’d need to look those numbers up. I’m only familiar with the 4GB model. The 2GB is probably significantly slower at solving crypto compared to the 4GB. It’s not so big that you shouldn’t be mining, but it is big enough to throw off your power cost calculations.
I purchased this for 849 USD. Initially, the payment was 0.012 ETH per day and within 3 weeks it has slowly decreased to 0.009 ETH per day. And this will decrease more in future. Even considering the rise in ethereum price over time, This would take you more than an year to get your seed money… No profit at all…. Better invest in ethereum and hold for 1 year. It would go twice or thrice than investing here.
Never underestimate the power of the Radeon RX 400 series. The Radeon RX 480 is not only the cheapest GPU in this list, it is also easily the most economic GPU. This card has a hash rate of 25 MH/s while only drawing 150 W at max load. You’ll make over $700 USD annually per card! Comparitively to the RX 580, this card is an awesome Ethereum miner!
