When it comes to picking GPUs, you want the select the best bang for the buck.  You’re looking for something with high hash rate, low cost, and low power usage.  You can start with as little as 1 GPU or as much as 7 GPUs within one rig.  Normally you see 5-6 in a mining rig as 7 is incredibly hard to make stable.
In the Host Name box, enter “[email protected]_dns_name” . Replace public_dns_name with the public DNS for your instance, which you can view by using the EC2 console (check the Public DNS column; if this column is hidden, click the Show/Hide icon and select Public DNS).
Hey I feel so great about mining Litecoin and me didn’t expect this much earnings per day but I know That Litecoin value or price will increase as Bitcoin that is why I choose to buy gold on LTC and I am still going to add my investment .
Ethereum mining is difficult on the Windows. Nonetheless, you can mine Ether using a GPU or a CPU device with Windows 64 bit. By running your CPU device, you can generate 0.15 Mega Hashes. On the other hand, using a decent GPU miner with sufficient storage, you can reach the 25 Mega Hashes mark. Thus, with regards to the overall efficiency, and after considering the total electricity charges, a GPU is definitely worth a purchase even if its cost is $200.
Noob here. Thanks for the tutorial, it was great! I built my first rig but have yet to power it up so ce i am very concerned with the way my risers would be powered after all the SATA burning we see on the internet.
Hi Charles, Sounds like a cool setup, hope you’re having fun with it and making some good money. I think your auto-correct is changing Claymore to Clayton. Anyway, as of Claymore v8.0, you can choose between mining Ethereum alone, Ethereum & Decred, Ethereum & Siacoin, Ethereum & Lbry. Based on something said by an old-time Bitcoiner in a video (I’m no expert on altcoins), I’d say Decred is the best choice. I haven’t heard anything about the other options and don’t know what they do exactly, except for some vague notions about “decentralized storage.” I’m not an expert on Ethereum… Read more »
Like clockwork my payouts have been showing up in my wallet since I started mining with Genesis-mining. I have been with these guys for several years and recommend them to anyone who wants to dip their toes into crypto mining.
If you live in a hot region and use air conditioning, you actually consume more than double the listed electricity because the heat being produced in the computer has to be subsequently removed by the air conditioning, which is not 100% efficient. Texas might seem to be attractive for mining because the electricity is cheap, but if you do the full energy calculation you’ll realize it’s only worthwhile in the winter.
The hashrate keeps falling quite fast and a flood of RX cards may hit the market when they’re no longer usable for Ethereum mining. Those who want to mine other altcoins may be possible to pick up some bargains.
Zwolle, The Netherlands – Bluemining.net is pleased to announce our new cloud mining service. bluemining.net that enables anyone to participate in ethereum mining without the need of purchasing specialized hardware.
Third, select the Graphics card you intend to use for mining. The calculator automatically enters the correct hashrate and power consumption. If your card isn’t listed or you’ve modified its performance, select the Custom option and enter the relevant figures manually. Note that GPU hashrates are entered in (Megahash per second aka MH/s; denoting millions of calculations per second).
I disagree… had the same scenario..the cost of an Ether mining contract with Genesis I could have bought 5.2 ETH …mined less than 2. Bought ZEC mining with Genesis…. never going to make half the amount I spent.
As I explained in the post – it is only “set to break even” at current difficulty. Unfortunately, difficulty keeps increasing and whatever deal or hardware you buy you usually have a pretty short window of time to get your money back. With the “pay to mine deals” they know that already – if the hardware was guaranteed to make a proift they would just operate it themselves.
I myself was very curious about this type of thing and hope to see more articles of it’s kind (to me more Hardware related than the numerous game reviews). One thing you did not mention however, is you could theoretically mine at break even, and if the Eth value explodes, discover your profit at that juncture. I guess that would make you more a speculator than a miner though?
A word on positioning. GPU’s can get hot – especially if you overclock them so be sure to get the best bang for your buck – and to be safe to place your rig in a well ventilated area so it doesn’t overheat.

Wow. What a year it’s been! 2016 was full of exciting news in the world of cryptocurrency: we’ve seen continued innovation amidst the blockchain; we’ve seen a steady growth of Bitcoin and increasing global acceptance of the currency; and of course, we’ve seen a growth of Genesis Mining in both our bitcoin farm hardware and customer base.
I’m wondering if you can help me troubleshoot something with Claymore Miner, though. It randomly crashes on me without any error messages (even when I add pause to the end of the start.bat to check). Is this because of some instability in my hardware? I haven’t overclocked anything and this is a fairly recent installation of Windows 10. It could be that the graphics card (GTX 1070) itself was factory overclocked and I might need to underclock it.
Indeed planned POS makes a lot of uncertainty for 2018. I believe you should check with your cloud mining company what will they do in case of POS. A refund or more probably switch to another profitable coin to mine?
Mining is a computationally intensive work that requires a lot of processing power and time. Mining is the act of participating in a given peer distributed cryptocurrency network in consensus. The miner is subsequently rewarded for providing solutions to challenging math problems. It is done by putting the computer’s hardware to use with mining applications.
Once you build trust into hashflare you can also pronounce it to connections or associates. I personaly have many links who invested into hashflare. You can make a make a also of of an easy 10% commission for each attain your referral makes. Be innocent to check out their affiliate system.
If you’re interested in mining Ethereum because want to make a quick buck, you’re going to be disappointed. If that’s you, then I would say to stick with just buying some Ethereum or Bitcoin on Coinbase and holding onto it for several years. My mantra with mining is this: Don’t just do it for the money. If you want to start mining, it’s probably a good idea for you to care about it as a hobby as well. It might not ever make you big gains, but it’s fun and helps minimize risks
It depends on the difficulty level. I’m not sure where Ethereum is right now, but a megahash rate of around 25 is what most people were getting with IIRC an RX 470 and they were profitably mining a few months ago. A hash rate of 11 MH/s isn’t amazing, but it’s almost half of an RX 470 (which sells for a ridiculous amount of money). You won’t make any money unless Ethereum goes up in value vs your power costs. But using a build like this helps you keep the power cost and build costs lower than had you decided to get a 470 or 480.
Mining is for fiat eventually. However, that point isn’t dictated by anyone but the holder. The asset is non-depreciable and will be worth the market price 1 month, 7 months, 3 years, 6 years, etc. down the road. Results for “profitability” will vary drastically based on that market price. Hence, these calculators are only as good as the values they use and the parameters they are given, which in this case, don’t account for market appreciation (or depreciation, to make the inverse argument).
Additionally, Ethereum plans with its next update tagged Serenity, to take out the concept of mining entirely and replace it with a new mechanism called Proof of Stake which will be powered by a consensus algorithm.
