Mining Ethereum at this point requires a 3GB GPU because of the size of the DAG file. DAG stands for Directed Acyclic Graph and is essentially a database of the existing blockchain. In order to mine the next block, your hardware needs to be aware of all the existing blocks. As of this writing, the DAG is just over 2GB, and it only gets bigger with each new step, which happens at least once a week. The vast majority of miners load the entire DAG into VRAM. Without sufficient capacity, the GPU can’t even begin mining operations.
Sekund (i gennemsnit). Blokke identificeres ved deres ”height” starter fra 0 og inkrementere sekventielt indtil den aktuelle blok.

I need some help. I downloaded the mod for version 1.8, and I installed the shader packs into their corresponding folders, but when I try to enter a world with shaders enabled, Minecraft crashes. Please let me know what I can do to fix this because I have no idea what I’m doing wrong and this is my third attempt to install shaders on Minecraft. (I deleted everything else before starting the third time.)
If it wasn’t profitable I can assure you graphics cards wouldn’t be selling out everywhere. It is indeed profitable. If you have a competitive advantage. Think someone is always making a profit, that doesn’t mean everyone is. You want cheap electricity. You can manage with mid rate electricity prices to make a profit too but it’s more of a gamble the higher those costs are.
And then once unlocked you can scroll down and see “Your Address” – this is your Ethereum Wallet address that we will use for mining.  Save it to a separate notepad text file and save it on your Desktop for easy access (Note: it’s okay to share this address as this is how people will send you Ether and how you will receive your mining payouts, but Never share your Private Key!).
The bitcoin mining software is what instructs the hardware to do the hard work, passing through transaction blocks for it to solve. There are a variety of these available, depending on your operating system. They are available for Windows, Mac OS X, and others.
Hence, it is reported that Ethereum is changing to Proof of Stake framework later in this year, in which mining of ether is irrelevant and works on Consensus algorithm different from current Dagger Hashimoto algorithm.
I really don’t recommend it. You’re going to need alot of mining equipment. Block rewards are at 3 ETH right now, plus Tx fees and gas costs from contracts/users. There’s even less if you only mine uncles. This is assuming you want to mine solo. If you’re trying to pool mine, you’re still going to need alot of good hardware, and electricity, as the block rewards are split between miners proportional to their hashrate contribution to the pool.
With all that being said, it wouldn’t surprise me with ETH surpasses the $2,000 mark this year in light of the major consumer interest that has been drawn to the Cryptocurrency industry last year. Another company I have an eye on (which is currently right under Ethereum for most most influential Blockchain Organizations is: Cashaa.
By this stage, you will understand how bitcoin works, and what mining means. But we need to get from theory to practice. How can you set up a bitcoin mining hardware and start generating some digital cash? The first thing you’re going to need to do is decide on your hardware, and there are two main things to think about when choosing it:
As far as the 280X goes, if your only concern is ROI then you are likely correct, I could have made this cheaper by cutting a few corners. I could have used a milkcrate, I could have used a cheaper hard drive (or network boot). Lots of things I could have done to cut some fat. But I am also trying to look past the ethereum horizon onto other uses as well. I think anyone building a rig right now will have to do the same unless they want to be left with a big paper weight.
Yes it is profitable is you do it the right way. You’ll need to build a mining rig with high powerful resources to make some amazing profits. if you want to know how much Ethereum mining can be profitable, then read the following article.
I have played the original aether this seems to be a quite bit odd terain generation compared to the original. The golden dungeon doesn’t have any golden leaves like they use to. I don’t remember blue or green clouds in the aether one. Did you just screenshot the aether II ?
For me, my aim was to find out more about the Ethereum network as I am a software developer and the possibility of programming smart contracts is like playing with a giant box of Lego Mindstorm, with unlimited pieces.
Hey there! Could you maybe try to get this to work on macOS as well? When I start it then it gives me a bunch of “invalid program:” and then several different things. (composite, gbuffers, final and others)
GPU mining is largely dead these days. Bitcoin mining difficulty has accelerated so much with the release of ASIC mining power that graphics cards can’t compete. If you do want to use them, you’d best equip yourself with a motherboard that can take multiple boards, to save on running separate PSUs for different boards.
When there isnt a long time line to do much more than break even and perhaps a little extra your thinking has to change. Now if you want to make a generic cryptominer, honestly, your probably better with ASICs or something. But this build, and post, was never meant to be about generic cryptominers.
Great post! I have been thinking also about setting up my own mining rig but as im not that technical i joined genesis mining which has been good for me and been earnig quite good ? so this post has me getting excited again to start setting up a mining rig. Going follow the steps you pointed out to see if I can get started…also good to start small and build out.
Double click your Bat file to start the miner.  The miner will start, run the setx commands to set those environment variables, initialize each of your GPU’s, build the DAG file on each of your GPU’s and start hashing away.  Let it run for about 20 seconds and then click “s” to have it show your Hashing speed.  You can use that back in the calculator again to determine a more accurate representation of your earnings.
The DAG started at 1 GB at the time of the Frontier launch, and increases by approximately 0.73x per year. That puts the current size at roughly 1.35 GB as of mid-January 2016 (feel free to comment with an exact link if anyone has one).

Eth mining is memory-bound, and needs high bandwidth, low latency VRAM. Integrated graphics using system memory as VRAM would likely perform very poorly. Also, you would need to allocate > 2GB of system RAM as VRAM, so the machines would probably need to have >4 GB of system memory.
However, you can’t use any GPU. Some are better than others when it comes to mining. For example, the GTX 1060 is a great GPU for gaming, but it’s not the best mining GPU on the market in its price range.
Today one of the most advanced miners out there is the Antminer S9. It’s what is known as an ASIC mining rig.  It has a mining rate of 14 TH/s. If we use the simple Bitcoin mining calculator (shown above) you will see that at today’s difficulty you will earn around 0.03600399 Bitcoins a month.
While this GPU is not as powerful in terms of hash-power when compared to the aforementioned Radeon R9 295X2 and Radeon R9 HD 7990 processors, it is still very popular because of the fact that it is the most economic options for Ethereum. It comes with a slower hash-power of 25 MH/s but saves a lot when it comes to electricity.
This website is intended to provide a clear summary of Ethereum’s current and historical price as well as important updates from the industry. I’ve also included a number of ERC20 tokens which can be found in the tokens tab at the top right. Prices are updated every minute in real-time and the open/close prices are recorded at midnight UTC. It is ironic that Einstein’s most creative work, the general theory of relativity, should boil down to conceptualizing space as a medium when his original premise [in special relativity] was that no such medium existed [..] The word ‘ether’ has extremely negative connotations in theoretical physics because of its past association with opposition to relativity. This is unfortunate because, stripped of these connotations, it rather nicely captures the way most physicists actually think about the vacuum. . . . Relativity actually says nothing about the existence or nonexistence of matter pervading the universe, only that any such matter must have relativistic symmetry. [..] It turns out that such matter exists. About the time relativity was becoming accepted, studies of radioactivity began showing that the empty vacuum of space had spectroscopic structure similar to that of ordinary quantum solids and fluids. Subsequent studies with large particle accelerators have now led us to understand that space is more like a piece of window glass than ideal Newtonian emptiness. It is filled with ‘stuff’ that is normally transparent but can be made visible by hitting it sufficiently hard to knock out a part. The modern concept of the vacuum of space, confirmed every day by experiment, is a relativistic ether. But we do not call it this because it is taboo.[9]
One thing that we are not using in-out mining rig is a cabin or a case so there will be no power switch to turn on your motherboard to mine. So, to do that we are going to use ATX power switch that will attach to the motherboard and you can easily power on or off with the help of the button.
