XFX R9 390X is a high-performing graphics process. It uses mining software Ethminer CUDA and based on the ethash algorithm. It has mining power of 27.5 Mh/s and it is available at Amazon at price $$$.
You’d need to look those numbers up. I’m only familiar with the 4GB model. The 2GB is probably significantly slower at solving crypto compared to the 4GB. It’s not so big that you shouldn’t be mining, but it is big enough to throw off your power cost calculations.
Mining solo, while sometimes more profitable, it’s usually not the right choice for most miners. When mining solo, you are doing all the work alone which means that you’ll receive the entire block reward, the problem is that mining is also based on a luck factor, which means that if your hashpower isn’t high enough, you may never see a reward come your way. With pool mining, however, this variance is eliminated and you receive payments that correspond to the portion of the work that you have done.
In conclusion, while there are many risks, all can easily be avoided by either implementing standard safety procedures, or by making sure that your rig will last a long time by buying the best parts you can. But all in all, while you will receive a great amount of rewards for mining, you can also lose a lot of money if your rigs break down due to misfortune or just plain old bad luck.
For a prelude, back in December 2017, I decided to build up to 12 GPU mining rig, using kind of dollar cost averaging – installing a new graphics card once in a month. Now, about 30 days later I have a 3 graphics card mining rig, and I’m dual mining Ether and Siacoin, These 3 cards combined gives me about 41 MH/s hashing power – which translates into some $5-$6 per day (not counting in fee for electricity)
The other night I was talking with a fellow affiliate marketer on Facebook, our conversation for some reason started to focus on investments, stocks, and cryptocurrencies. Seems that alternative finance income ideas…
Whichever card you decide on, be prepared to spend a lot of shopping time at the various retailers and resellers. Only then can you hope to find that coin at a “fair” price. Mining has really inflated GPU prices across the board, which is a good indicator that GPU mining is still profitable—if you play your cards right.
The one extremely important factor that you and all people with this argument forget to mention is that the price/value of ether has gone up at a faster rate than the difficulty… Simply put, making less ether over time, but each ether is worth more! Currently, 2800 worth of hashpower will break even in only 6 months and anything after that is profit! Keep in mind, ether is in a downtrend right now, when it explodes again, breakeven will likely drop to 4-5 months. Btw, Genesis doesn’t charge you for electricity, so there’s big savings to consider there too. Thanks!
This is really overpriced. Buy 4 7990 and get 200 MH/s for around 2600. MB, CPU, HD, PSU, riser cards and built an open air case for around $400. Then if it ever gets to the point mining isn’t profitable sell the cards etc. and save money and make more money than paying $4400 for 100 MH/s…
Nvidia Corporation is an American technology company based in Santa Clara, California. It designs graphics processing units for the gaming and professional markets, as well as system on a chip units for the mobile computing and automotive market
There are currently about 2.5 million GPUs mining Ethereum. The rating for efficiency can be determined by dividing the hashrate by the power draw. This is a primary indicator, which shows how profitable your mining operations will be in the future (after the payback period), given that electricity is a fixed, ongoing cost. The more efficient your card (newer cards are usually more efficient), the more profitable it will be once you’ve received the ROI.
It offers a hash-rate of 36 MH/s. The R9 HD 7990 consumes a power of 300W at max load which is one of its benefits when compared to the R9 295X2. The power cost per day of this GPU is $1.03, cost per MH/s is $18.9. The Radeon R9 HD 7990 comes out into the markets with a 6GB GDDR5 RAM.
A: This guide covers using Windows 10 (make sure it’s 64 bit).  There are also various distros of Linux that can be used (not covered here).  But Windows is the easiest to configure and get up and running fast.  There is no Mac version at this time.
The idea and inspiration for this article come out since after about a month ago I started to invest both in cloud mining and building my very own GPU mining rig. I decided to compare – what’s more profitable – doing all by yourself or just throwing money into cloud mining contracts.
You can follow Steps to download the official Ethereum Wallet, but you do need to wait for the full Ethereum blockchain to sync.  To skip this and get going much faster, jump down to Step 5 and create a wallet using MyEtherWallet instead.
One of the most simple to use calculators is the Crypto Compare calculator. You simply choose the currency you would like to mine then input your hash rate along with the wattage of your system and power cost, then the website will show you what your profits are every day, along with the amount of the currency you will mine. The main problem with this site is that it does not factor in the network’s difficulty. Everyday new miners join the network, which in turn increases the difficulty. That means that if you are solo mining, you will have a lower chance of solving the block, and if you’re pool mining, this will lead to lower rewards.
Ethereum mining pools significantly increase your chance of acquiring Ether. This is because Ethers probability of allocation, just like other cryptocurrencies, is proportional to relative productivity.
Mining is intentionally designed to be resource-intensive and difficult so that the number of blocks found each day by miners remains steady. Individual blocks must contain a proof of work to be considered valid. This proof of work is verified by other Bitcoin nodes each time they receive a block. Bitcoin uses the hashcash proof-of-work function.
*Lifetime Contract means that the duration of the contracts are not fixed, contract will be active until it is profitable to mine, and will be canceled when it cannot pay it’s own electricity costs in continuation of some period, usually 14 days.
CryptoJunction aims to be the go-to source for information about blockchain technology, Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, wallets, exchanges, cloud mining services, mining hardware & software, mining pools, marketplaces, services, stores and gambling sites.
The Cloud Mining Monitor (CMM) team is also committed to ensuring cloud mining reviews are constantly updated with the latest information which could impact enthusiasts looking to buy hashing power on these Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin cloud mining platforms.
Yes, but if you’re getting your profit from the increased market price for the crypto, wouldn’t make more sense to just invest the total amount into the crypto itself? Otherwise you would be spending a good amount for electricity + hardware and would have to reach ROI before actually making money.
Another risk, though small, is that if you decide to mine on the ETHash algorithm you have to make sure you have enough VRAM (Video Random Access Memory) on the graphics card, as the networks DAG (Directed Acrylic Graph) will be stored on the VRAM. So if you do not have a large enough VRAM size on your GPU you will not be able to mine that coin. At the moment, Ethereum’s DAG file size is 2.1 GB meaning that you will have to mine on a card with more than 2 GBs of VRAM. You can check the DAG size for some popular coins using this website.
As more miners join the network, the mining difficulty increases, and therefore you receive less Ethereum for the amount of energy spent to solve one problem. As data suggests, Ethereum block difficulty increased from 171 TH/s(1 Trillion hashes per second) to 1714 TH/s in 6 months in 2017.
GPUs are up to 200 times faster and more effective when it comes to mining Ethereum than compared to mining via CPUs. GPUs with at least 3GB of RAM are recommended for mining. In the past this used to be 2GB but as the difficulty rises you would need more powerful machine. The best GPUs for mining Etheruem currently feature 8GB of Graphic RAM.
After monitoring my contract on 50 MH/s on Script, my payout on Litecoin is 3.6825. With current price of $26.97/LTC, my mining payout per 30 days is around $119. My rate of recovery on investment is about 7 months as compared to many other pools offering around 10 to 11 months. It’s.pretty easy to see the efficiency & advantage offered by Genesis Mining. The Genesis Team is really doing a good job; might see you folks when traveling for Northern Lights!
“Mining Ethereum is really complicated and I wanted the simplest solution. Luckily I found CoinMiner who sent a rig to me 1 week after ordering and all I needed to do was turn it on. Fantastic system and I’m planning to buy more.”
Generally, any motherboard with PCIe slots on it is suitable for mining—typically one GPU per PCIe slot. The PCIe slots don’t need to be full-length, as we can attach GPUs to 1x slots with the help of risers. With that said, there are potentially some limitations when you start to pack a large number (4+) of GPUs onto one motherboard, even if that board has enough PCIe slots to physically accommodate them. That’s why picking a suitable motherboard is probably your biggest hardware headache if you want to run as many GPUs as possible in your rig.
As I mentioned above, you can choose to build your mining rig with a nice custom built case or you can save money and use a plastic storage crate or milk crate.  Both work equally as well except one won’t look nearly as good.
Now, let’s do the math for Hashflare ethereum cloud mining contract, with initial $220 investment we could buy exactly 10MH/s mining contract for one year. That’s already 2MH/s less if we would opt to buy GPU card.
6) Use this site!!! 85% of all the information you need to have an effective mining operation is on this site. Its well written, well thought out and a great starting point to get you up and running with the least amount of headaches. The linux step by step instructions are awesome and easy to use.
Also, the rigs are located in the mountain area east of Albuquerque thus it is cooler then here in the city. It is about 1000 feet higher in elevation (almost 7000 feet) then the city. I don’t know if this helps but i am going to ask my friend more about this.
Oh and please don’t mind the mess. This place has got supernatural powers –the more we clean it, the messier it becomes at the end of the day. At this point we have become so adept at cleaning that we might as well consider starting our own cleaning company lol (Just kidding)
