If you’re interested in mining for ethereum, you need to have a good machine to do it. Ideally, you’ll want to build your rig to be as future proof as possible, so that your rig isn’t going to become obsolete in a few years. Your GPU has to have enough RAM to cache it, so it’s a good idea to use 8GB cards.
Step 3:Now you need to run the program you just downloaded. To do this you need to run Command Prompt. You can do this by searching in the search function in Windows for “CMD” and then clicking on it when it shows up.
Great guide, I wish I had this a few months ago before I started mknkn. I’ve gone through all this the hard way which is good but this guide is very clear and straightforward. Having said that I wonder if you would have any idea how to fix the issue I have come across. After mining for two weeks on windows 10 with claymore on nanopool @ 6 x 1070 GeForce. My miner went offline. It says “ cannot write a buffer for DAG” CUDA error 77. It also says “an illegal instruction was encountered” and “calc DAG failed” I have increased the virtual memory but that did not work. My hard drive says it has not 15gb of 110.
An uncle is a stale block, usually beat to the blockchain by another block. The Ethereum network compensates miners for these though they receive a lesser reward. As you mine a block, you’ll receive a reward for no more than two uncle blocks included. The pay you receive is for uncles up to six blocks back.
Ethereum Mining can be done in the comfort of your home. It requires script writing and some knowledge of the command prompt. It is quite easy and exciting once the process is broken down into manageable steps.
The thing is Ethereum is the cryptocurrency which is ASIC resistant; i.e you cannot mine it with any ASIC you will have to mine it with graphics cards. I have also inserted Amazon links as it may help you buy them.
The name of the chipset produced by Nvidia or AMD for each card remains the same (such as RX 480). You’ll notice that various models are available from different Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). For example, you might encounter the MSI Gaming Radeon RX 480.
Joining the ethereum mining pool is next step after you have purchased the correct ethereum hardware.  The reliable mining pool will assist you in getting ongoing payouts. This will be determined when an ether block is solved.
Founded in 2014, WageCan is a Taiwan-based company that offers cryptocurrency-related services, including cards and wallets. HashCan is a Bitcoin cloud mining service provided by WageCan, allowing users to mine cryptocurrencies without having to set up and host the mining hardware itself.
You do not need registration to use Weipool. Furthermore, they do not charge any rewards fee for your block rewards. They release their payouts after every 24 hours. However, for you to be able to withdraw any money from them, you must reach a minimum threshold of 1 ETH.
When looking at what people had to say about the ASUS ROG Strix 580 08G AMD Graphics Card they had great things to say. Customers like that the this graphics card has excellent cooling and headroom for overclocking. Folks like that there are two additional 4-pin fan headers, saving you from having to use splitters for extra fan chassis.
That’s ultimately why we created this list of the best mining GPUs, and we didn’t just look into the specific needs of each mining graphics card, but we also included our exclusive price comparison tool to bring you the lowest prices from every corner of the internet.
Graphic cards are more suitable for handling the recurrent processes that characterize the mining of ether. They offer tremendous speeds of up to 200 times faster than central processing units. Also, ether is better mined by AMD which is more effective than NVIDIA cards.

Bitcoin is the mainstream choice. If you’re looking for a cryptocurrency with first-mover advantage, unmatched popular visibility and the highest market capitalization, it’s a no-brainer. On the downside, it’s now nearly impossible to mine profitably, incredibly energy-intensive and, after rising more than 1,000 percent over the past year, could have expended most of its potential for growth. (This is debatable. No one knows anything.)
If you decide to join a pool, then choosing the right pool that meets your mining expectations is important, as well as understanding the different pay-out methods and how they will impact your earnings.
1. PPS stands for Pay Per Share. This means that every share you mine has a specific value to the Ethereum mining network and that’s what you get paid during the pool’s payout. If you mine off and on (or your WiFi drops in and out) over any given period of time, this is the payment type you want.
To get started you will need to obtain a mining wallet to collect your digital currency, mining software, and of course your trusty PC equipped with a worthy “miner” or GPU, or better yet multiple GPUs. NiceHash is a simple software package that will get you up and running, but there are a myriad of mining app choices and wallet types out there to choose from, with lots of guides on the net to educate yourself. We’re going to be focusing on the hardware and mining performance side of things in this piece, however.
Before you can calculate you will be making, you need to calculate your hashrate and payout. To do that, you need to figure out the hashrate of your GPUs, which you can do with Google. You can also use a site like CryptoCompare to determine what the best GPU is for the money.
Hi Charles, Sounds like a cool setup, hope you’re having fun with it and making some good money. I think your auto-correct is changing Claymore to Clayton. Anyway, as of Claymore v8.0, you can choose between mining Ethereum alone, Ethereum & Decred, Ethereum & Siacoin, Ethereum & Lbry. Based on something said by an old-time Bitcoiner in a video (I’m no expert on altcoins), I’d say Decred is the best choice. I haven’t heard anything about the other options and don’t know what they do exactly, except for some vague notions about “decentralized storage.” I’m not an expert on Ethereum… Read more »
Hashing24 is a cloud mining contract provider for individuals who want to get involved in bitcoin mining. The Hashing24 team has been involved in a mining business since 2012. Its initial mining power supplier is one of the industry’s leaders – BitFury.
When you hear the term “cryptocurrency”, probably the first thing that comes to mind is Bitcoin, the popular cryptocurrency out there. Bitcoin may be the most popular, but it certainly isn’t the only digital currency making waves at this time. There are well over 100 cryptocurrencies available at the moment, with numerous new ones being born almost on a daily basis; however, most of them are just poor copycats of Bitcoin, adding no real value to the market, so they fail to get traction and eventually die within days, weeks or months, at best. Cryptocurrencies that do survive, though, start gaining popularity, and are in for the long run. One of the best examples of such currency, and probably Bitcoin’s fiercest competitor, is Ether – a cryptocurrency that is trending right now and has seen a massive growth over the past few months, which made it one of the most interesting options for miners.
Be wary of the networks increasing difficulty. Even though you may make $10 one day, the next day you may make $9, so you should always be open minded about mining different coins when the time comes.
The two share an underlying pool, but have different payment methods. Ethermine uses the PPLNS payment method, (Pay Per Last “N” Shares) which involves some luck in the payment but on average pays 5% more. Ethpool is a predicable solo mining pool and pays on the PPS method, a standard pay per share model. Ethermine has more than 200 000 active workers and processes about 32 blocks an hour, while Ethpool has about 12500 active workers and processes about 5 blocks an hour.
If you are running Windows Defender or some other anti-virus program, add an exception to it so that it does not flag the Claymore mining executable “EthDcrMiner64.exe” as a virus or try to disable/delete it.
This is a pool where Ethereum mining is easy, fast and free; zero mining fees. It allows a miner to mine directly to Debit Card and uses STRATUM pool mining software. BitClub also offers to give away prices to miners. It contributes about 3% of hash rate power.
