Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with a bios modification question. I have a rig running mostly rx470 mining editions, are these cards already maxed out when it comes to tweeking their bios? When reading the specifications for ASICs on this page is that they should be interpreted as being indicative, rather than authoritative. Many of the figures will have come from the manufacturers, who will present their technology in the best light – be that high hash rates that in practice may not be very efficient and require additional cooling, or very high efficiency at a cost of hash rate and risking being slow in the race against difficulty adjustments.
I’ve been using this alternative as a safe and cost-efficient way to mine Ether, without breaking the bank and setting up a rig (Most of the time there are other costs involved like electricity, hardware failure, etc.).
Years ago (spring of 2015) I had mined ETHEREUM (solo) using GETH in UBUNTU 14 and one time the mother board gave me some trouble so I had to change much newer MB ( may be too much newer one). After MB was changed the computer was not posting to C driver any more .Struggled many hours but at last I had to format the HD with about 250 ETH (all gone at present situation)remained inside and reinstalled GETH and in short time I lost all the interest in mining I completely abandoned my miner. At that time ETH was about only $1~2 some times 50 cents so I did not care much and left it alone all this years but I saved the HD in my draw and now it is worth 1/4 of million dollars now. Now I use TESTDISK in UBUNTU 14 and trying to go back to the state before the format to find the ETH. Please help me where I should look for (which folder which file if I can revival them) those accumulated 250 ETH exist. HOW I GET IT BACK.
AMD video cards used to have a significant edge over Nvidia for cryptocurrency mining. This is no longer the case. the AMD Rx 580 and AMD Rx 570 are both great choices. The Rx 480 does 29Mh/s and the Rx 570 does 27Mh/s. I’d also recommend checking on eBay if Amazon is out of stock.  Regarding which models to buy, just make sure they are the twin fan designs from any of the Sapphire, Asus, Gigabyte or MSI brands. They are well built and run cool and efficient compared to some others. Amazon often limits the number of GPU’s to 3 per customer, so if you plan to build a 6 GPU rig, I would recommend getting the six pack that is usually listed here and here. This particular pack of special edition GPU’s are overclocked already and ready to mine at maximum hash rates out of the box.
A Radeon R9 HD 7990 will cost you $680. Its power cost per day is lower than the R9 295X2 at but its hash rate is significantly lower at 36 MH/s. Its return per day is $1.29 while its cost per MH/s is $18.89, giving it a return per year of $469.40.

To achieve this, ZCash founders had to develop an entirely new cryptography algorithm that would allow transactions to be verified despite the fact that their inputs or outputs could be encrypted. The algorithm, known as zk-SNARK, uses a zero-knowledge proof construction, which allows it to provide authenticity for encrypted transactions, and represented quite a breakthrough in the field. The advantage of mining over trading is that coin prices can be somewhat more stable, and at the end of the day, you’ll still have the equipment. Which, if you’ve chosen wisely, wouldn’t have lost too much of its value.
Electricity costs vary from country to country. Mining consumes a lot of electricity. Apart from the power consumed by your mining hardware you might need to cool the room, this adds to your potential electricity costs.If you can keep your electricity costs minimal, you are bound to enjoy healthy returns on your investment. An efficient PSU is a shrewd investment if you look at the long run. Plus if you choose the most energy-efficient GPU that can offer a respectable hash rate, you’ll cut your power bills.
As you can see it takes some time and some decision making, depending on what your goals are. If you’re purely profit motivated, there’s a much different choice to make. Of course, if profit is everything you might just consider purchasing Ethereum rather than mining it in the first place. At its current growth rate it might just be a better investment than the hardware. Of course it could also go bust. Any investment or business comes with a certain amount of risk.  All of these GPUs and numbers are based on a modest overclocking.  See my article on overclocking GPUs for mining rigs for more information.

There are other video cards like the higher end R9 series from AMD that I’ve chosen to not include here simply because they are an older generation of video cards and use a lot of power by comparison. I’ll be updating this list of GPU mining video cards regularly as new cards from both AMD and Nvidia are released.

The thing is Ethereum is the cryptocurrency which is ASIC resistant; i.e you cannot mine it with any ASIC you will have to mine it with graphics cards. I have also inserted Amazon links as it may help you buy them.
Before you buy the Ethereum mining GPU, there are other equally important aspects that you might need. These would be an effective Ether mining pool, as well as an Ethereum hardware wallet that you can use to store your Ether in a secure manner.
