The Radeon RX 480 is most arguably the most economical in terms of cost and saving electricity. Its power cost per day is significantly lower than the two that I have mentioned at $0.4320. Its hash rate is 25.0 MH/s, meaning its cost per MH/s is $7.96. This gives a return per day of $1.21 and therefore a return per year of $440.91. Radeon RX 480 will cost you $199.
We compare all Crypto Currency mining providers in one place, whether you want to mine using a GPU or outsource the maintenance to another outfit – we show you the providers and whether they are legitimate in what they say they are going to give you.
You do have some great information on mining with the GTX 1070, thank you. But you don’t mention the 1070 Ti, how come? According to other research I have found that the 1070 Ti is actually more efficient, and faster than the 1070 so overall it can cost less and mine more.
He uses a vending machine as a real life example. You input the code B6 into the vending machine. The vending machine takes this code, and then executes the code. The candy bar labled B6 is then dispensed.
If you want to avoid a lot of the pain of experimentation with drivers, which OS, blah, etc – I really think that EthOS is a great solution for someone new to mining and it’s actually built for large scale rollouts. I’m not connected with them at all, I’m just a satisfied customer. You can really just put the hardware together, drop in an EthOS SSD, change a few settings and start mining straight away. Once you are mining at default everything, then you can tweak a bit more out of everything. I was pretty new to mining and I got it early on and it’s been very reliable ever since, for about 4-5 months now.
Unless you have especially cheap power or low hardware costs, it’s challenging to mine coins that will sell at an immediate profit. Of course the value of Dogecoins may increase in the future, but it tends to be a very volatile market in the short-term.
Well right now its still profitable but if the price drops below 0.02ETH and difficulty will keep going up like 40-50% everymonth then most likely in 2 months it won’t be worth the hassle…. its a gamble.
Some numbers – running ethminer on my CPU gives me a hashrate of 0.248 megahashes per second (MH/s). For comparison, each of my over-clocked AMD R9 390X GPUs gives me a hashrate of about 31.58 MH/s. My GPU gives me 127x the hashrate of my CPU. It is a lowish end CPU AMD FX(tm)-6350 6 core processor and with motherboard + CPU + disk drive + fans consumes about 200 Watts, or 4.8 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per day.
The mining demand has driven prices well above their normal retail price. That said, the card achieves a hashrate similar to the GTX 1079 Ti and 1080 models. And it’s a fraction of the price and lower power consumption, at least compared to the 1080. However, you must keep in mind that this older technology will have a lower resale value than these Nvidia models (once it’s no longer suitable for mining).
To start mining with your GPU, key in ‘ethminer –G’ followed by the enter key. This will initiate the mining process after building the DAG ((Directed Acyclic Graph), which is a large file stored in the RAM of your GPU for the purpose of making it ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) resistant. Ensure that there is sufficient space on your hard drive before getting to this point.
Mining profitability depends on a few different factors, related to cloud mining the most important two are Ethereum market price and of course cloud mining price. In general, you just need to compare how much you pay to rent the hardware and how much coins you get in return.
Hi Vincent, Well, I would suggest that the best place to start is GPU mining. Check out our Mining Guides section for articles on mining Ethereum and Zcash as these are both good coins to mine with a GPU. A good coin to mine with CPU is Monero, although we don’t currently have a guide to doing that directly (we do have one for mining it through websites this isn’t as efficient). Only free software and free membership to a pool is required to start mining. GPU mining will lead to wear and tear on your card, yes, the… Read more »
Electricity costs vary from country to country. Mining consumes a lot of electricity. Apart from the power consumed by your mining hardware you might need to cool the room, this adds to your potential electricity costs. If you can keep your electricity costs minimal, you are bound to enjoy healthy returns on your investment. An efficient PSU is a shrewd investment if you look at the long run. Plus if you choose the most energy-efficient GPU that can offer a respectable hash rate, you’ll cut your power bills.
The card should have at least 3 gigs of RAM or it won’t be able to properly mine Ethereum. This is due to the growing DAG file (directed acyclic graph) used in the Ethereum Proof of Work hashing process.
I wanted to experience litecoin mining. I bought the contract to sample the kinds of returns. Its been a great experience so far…hassle free and simple buying process, immediate payouts are some of the great features of litecoin contract. I will update more in due course
