Alternative #1: Awesome Miner can setup new managed mining instances of Claymore’s Dual Ethereum+Decred Miner where the mining software is automatically installed, managed and started from Awesome Miner. From the Awesome Miner interface, this can also be performed on remote computers where Awesome Miner Remote Agent is installed.
it’s hard to tell if one GPU produces memory errors or if it’s something bad with the GPU, that would cause it to break in the longer run (Windows has strong tools like HWinfo64 that can tell you precise if your GPU is working properly or if it’s unstable)
Solo mining is not entirely problem free, we have tried with a single GPU for a day and sometime along the day geth got in some kind of loop and was not sending work for new blocks, but was stuck at sending work for an older block that has already been solved. So solo mining can also give you problems and the risk there is higher, though if lucky you can make more than pool mining. A guide for solo mining Ethereum is coming…
You’ve heard of something called “Bitcoin” for years now, but always wondered what it’s exactly ? Maybe you’ve also heard of “cryptocurrencies” and, with such a dark name, you never tried (…) Read more
get 80+gold or 80+platinum certified PSU’s ONLY. From my own experiences, I have heard many times that the cheap PSU’s caught on fire or even have melted, thus making serious damage to the motherboard.
First, I should note that performance can vary significantly depending on the display driver used, the software client used, and the configuration of the graphics card, so please take this as a rough performance guide.
Thanks so much, I am starting this now, just for the fun of it and see how it goes. Around R50 a day isn’t bad, on my 6GB 1060. I don’t know my electricity usage yet, but will keep an eye on it and try balance it out. But doubt I am using R50 a day.
You can also specify negative values if you don’t want to restart miner due to pool connection issues; for example, “-minspeed -50” will restart miner only if it cannot reach 50Mh/s at good pool connection.
As a Ethereum Miner and Researcher, there are few essential concepts must be clarified for the purpose of mining. If you don’t care about the beauty of computing, you can skip ahead to the section of “Road to Mining”.
The way mining works is you contribute mining ‘work’ to a mining pool of workers and get shares of Ethereum for your work contributed. This guide will use nanopool.org though there are other options like ethermine.org. The mining pool uses your wallet address to keep track of your balance and pays out when you reach a certain balance that the pool specifies.
Microsoft SmartScreen claims that minergate.com is insecure: “this web site contains threats for your equipment that can undisclose personal or finantial information.” (not literal, I translated it to english)

After installing this new application, you’ll need to create an account for yourself. You’ll want to make sure that you create as secure a password as you can, but you’re also going to want to make sure that you physically record that password somewhere (writing it down somewhere secure) as you won’t be able to retrieve that password after it has been created.
Ethereum uses a different hashing algorithm to Bitcoin, which makes it incompatible with the special hashing hardware (ASICs) developed for Bitcoin mining. Ethereum’s algorithm is known as Ethash. It’s a memory-hard algorithm; meaning it’s designed to resist the development of Ethereum-mining ASICs. Instead, Ethash is deliberately best-suited to GPU-mining.
Fans. Liquid cooling requires more thought as it is the GPUs that require the cooling and you will have to purchase the correct GPU liquid cooling add-on, or purchase a GPU with the liquid cooling built in.
1. You published this article on January 19,2017 and you talk about RX 480, but you recommend a driver that is not for this type of video card. I know that Claymore recommends it, but I think it was long time ago, when he wrote his program.
On the whole, your hardware, excluding GPUs, shouldn’t cost you more than $500, and the large part of this will be your PSU. Below is a recommended purchase list from Amazon. The total without the GPUs comes to $472.21. While with 6 RX480s your total cost would be $1702.15 sans shipping costs.
A number of mainstream tech firms may consider following suit – given the massive demand for ASIC mining units worldwide. One only needs to look at the demand for Bitmain’s flagship S9 Antminers. Recent batches launched on its website have sold out within minutes – highlighting the voracious appetite for quality ASIC miners.
Ethereum is an open software platform based on the blockchain technology that enables developers to build and deploy decentralized applications. The advantage of Ethereum over Bitcoin, is that it can support many different types of decentralized applications.
Step 14 GPU mining (only do this after your blockchain is synchronised): Type in ethminer -G and press enter and then you should start mining with your GPU after building a DAG file which can take around ten minutes. There can be problems at this point. For example the program might say that you have insufficient memory on your Graphics card to mine the with Ethereum’s Ethash algorithm. If this is the case you can still mine with your CPU or go out and buy a new graphics card! You can see our graphics cards and compare their return on investments here and check out our guide on how to pick an ethereum mining graphics card here. We’ve also added a guide on how to build your ethereum mining rig.
That is an excellent hash rate as long as your cards don’t overheat. I like to keep my GPU’s around 65 degrees Celsius. Also, the reason I dial mine back to around 31Mh/s is because power usage goes up significantly once you bump the cards past 32Mh/s.
I’ve had several people ask about the NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB . Though not my first choice, this GPU can be overclocked to mine at 24.7 Mh/s while only pulling 80 watts of power.  Just like the GTX 1070 and the Rx 580, you can find this GPU conveniently sold in a six pack here, here and here for building a mining rig.
