“Bergbau Äthermünze”

This is going to be a quick guide. I’ve got things to do, people to see, food to digest. You get the point. Still, mining on Windows involved enough technical steps — and a few random guesses along the way — that it’s likely I’ve forgotten something. Comment, and I’ll attempt to fill in the spots I missed.
AsicMiner Market team has been building and selling mining rigs, creating custom firmware for ASIC miners (padrino Jupiter firmware, padrino Titan firmware), and consulting on large GPU and ASIC deployments since 2011, when Bitcoin was just starting to gain popularity. We will be around for the future and are happy to help with projects of any size.
Where I think there is confusion however, is that there is a belief that somehow ‘faster hashing == better’. I don’t think that’s the case at all assuming the PoW algo is memory hard. In fact that would allow for better overall network security as it would distribute hashing power more evenly across a range of varied devices including phones and tablets. (particularly so in the context of a PoS/PoW hybrid situation, which would partially solve the issue of botnets/aws/digital ocean centralization).
You’ll want to work in an Ethereum Mining Pool. Think of solving block hashes as buying lottery tickets, the more computers working on a block the higher chance you have to solve. Being in a pool with thousands will give you a more consistent payout than mining alone.
@ciprianpt philakone is full of it. No way any R7-370 gets 19-21MH, you can check with others on this forum, we all know they get reported and efective 15-16MH avg. at the pool and no more. I’ve even checked his “magic settings” out on the exact same brand cards he has and got nothing more than 15.3MH.
 – A standard keyboard, mouse and monitor are needed.  If managing your rig remotely (not covered here in this beginner guide) you will want to get a headless hdmi dummy plug to plug into your rig so it boots into Windows properly for remote access.
Do note that ethminer is 64-bit only and you need to have Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable installed (the 64-bit version) as it is compiled with Visual Studio 2013 and CUDA 7.5RC. Note that it seems AMD is currently faster mining Ethereum as compared to Nvidia GPUs and CPU mining is not much worth other than for testing purposes anyway.
Megahashing performance of Radeon cards is still top dog, but it doesn’t make much sense going past the R9 390/x as the price/performance metric makes little sense in that regards.  Going from 2560 stream processors to 4096 doesn’t net much value, suspect something fishy with the VRAM is going on here.  That suspicion also bleeds over in the GeForce cards with the poor performance of the GTX 1080 once again suspecting something with the G5X coming into play.  But when it comes to the hashing rate of the GTX 1070 my eyes popped a bit, after all the skyrocketing prices of RX x70/x80 parts are starting to make it look rather attractive.  If you’re wondering why the GTX 1050 is sitting at 0 it’s because it simply doesn’t have the VRAM capacity to mine Ethereum, we left it in the charts for illustrative purposes only.  And because I forgot to delete it before making the charts.
On occasions, the submodel of products could be changed before shipping. In that case, the buyer will be informed. And if there is any price difference, we will refund the difference if the submodel is switched to a lower version; we will ask the buyer to make up the difference if the submodel is switched to a higher version. The switch of submodels will not be honored as a reason for refund.
The rest of this guide focuses on the hardware side. For further help setting up an Ethereum wallet, join a pool, and use your miner. These steps are detailed in our beginner’s guide to mining Ethereum.
Click on the ‘View’ menu to deselect other cryptocurrencies, until only ETH remains. MinerGate will notify you that it’s loading a DAG (Dagger Hashimoto) file. This is around 1GB in size and represents the proof of work algorithms necessary to mine Ethereum data blocks. If you want to understand this further, see the Ethereum Github page for more information.
It is often hard to select required PSU. Some of you might select a PSU that is way less than the required power supply. When you select the Power Supply Unit for the mining rig you will only use 80% of the total that can be supplied by the PSU.
And then once unlocked you can scroll down and see “Your Address” – this is your Ethereum Wallet address that we will use for mining.  Save it to a separate notepad text file and save it on your Desktop for easy access (Note: it’s okay to share this address as this is how people will send you Ether and how you will receive your mining payouts, but Never share your Private Key!).
With the right GPU (an advanced GPU from AMD or Nvidia) you’ll be able to mine for Ethereum 200 times faster than you would have been able to with a CPU, and many that mine for Ethereum professionally say that the AMD GPU cards are much more efficient than the Nvidia brethren.
Bad job Tom’s. Just add fuel to the GFX card debacle. Irresponsible and just wrong. First the user must go out and OVERSPEND on a GFX card and then follow this article and start mining and increase the shortages even further. Hm, good job Tom, good job.
The Shares section relates to how the work is divided by different machines in the mining pool to ensure everyone receives a fair reward in line with work done by their machine. See the Bitcoin wiki for more information on this.
The popularity of GPU-based cryptocurrency mining has driven up the prices of particularly efficient cards. GPU manufacturers have struggled to meet demands from miners. This struggle has resulted in a noticeable shortage of certain cards, as well as inflated prices from suppliers on the “secondary market” (in other words, resellers on sites such as eBay).

  1. You need to open up another command prompt, as in step 4. You are going to see two scary looking boxes! Simply right click on your already opened command prompt, in the taskbar at the bottom of the page, and click on the command prompt in the menu that appears.
