some motherboards like the Z170 which are used for Gaming have 6 PCI-E inputs, but if you connect all 6 of them and you have an Integrated GPU enabled on your rig, it probably won’t start or it will give you a poor performance. That is an error on your motherboard, and you have to disable the Integrated GPU to make the rig work, and that is not a good option. And it will for sure cause problems.
I have been trying to set up a GPU miner for days. I had troubles with my GPU drivers in Ubuntu, so I just did a clean Windows install, only to find that the cpp client seems to be less supported than Ubuntu and OSX?
Hello Peter, I was wondering if you know ethOS well enough to possibly help me getting my Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 480 4G to get higher in hash rate? I am stuck at 24mh/s and I can’t seem to get it higher but everyone keeps telling me people are reaching 28+. If you want just email me please! I would appreciate all the help!
Step 15 and 16 possible error: If you are not patient is “JSON-RPC problem. Probably couldn’t connect. Retrying in 1…” As you can see in the screenshot bellow this happens when you don’t have the blockchain synced yet.
@spagnola – I wasn’t being dismissive at all – I own a few GPUs myself. Maybe my tone was a bit assertive because I tire of seeing individuals with no interest in our technology just ‘wanting to mine’ and then becoming hostile when they quickly realize we’re not yet-another-doge to point pools at.
If you see 0/0, the DAG probably isn’t loaded properly, or you were impatient with geth –rpc and it didn’t sync up, now you’re working on some old block, hashing away, because you didn’t sync properly.
You need to open up another command prompt, as in step 4. You are going to see two scary looking boxes! Simply right click on your already opened command prompt, in the taskbar at the bottom of the page,and click on the command prompt in the menu that appears.
Like I see it, the current best GPUs can mine 46 MH/s (Radeon R9). And they’re still profitable. So what exactly is the problem with having a miner that has more hashing power, would the power consumption be too high? How high would the power consumption of something like this be, I mean bitcoin miners have incredibly high electricity cost as well, why is this so different?

Step 5: You need to tell your Geth program to create a new account. As you have installed it in your user directory in Step 2 then it is just a simple case of typing in “geth account new” and then pressing return/enter. This should look like this “C:\>geth account new”. 
Repeat step 4 in a new command terminal (change directory command). To open a new command terminal, right-click on the previously active terminal icon found in the taskbar and then click on the terminal from the menu.
I see a lot of people are having this same problem. I believe that something must have changed in the new version of Claymore which is causing this error. Can you perhaps install an older version of Claymore?
