Gestartet wurde die Ethereum im Juli 2015, nachdem ein Jahr zuvor das Yellowpaper geschrieben wurde. Ethereum ist also noch recht jung und dies ist auch der Grund dafür, warum sich ein Einstieg in das Mining jetzt noch lohnen könnte.
Even harder to find than the RX 480 is the AMD RX 470. A year ago, this was the absolute best card for mining. With a slight BIOS mod, it can do 29Mh/s while pulling 140 watts. Just like the other AMD cards listed, my favorite model is the AMD Sapphire RX 470 Nitro+ (Model #11256-10-20G).

RED – this part shows you the real GPU’s core clock rates and its voltages. In other            overclocking tools you will only see the last one, in this case 1340 Mhz. As you noticed there are 8 of them (P0,P1….P7) and that are the GPU’s core states. This means the GPU switches automatically to default between those states, depending on how much you use the GPU. From all those 8 states, we don’t want the GPU to switch between them, we want it to run stable at the fixed clock rates we put it on. To do that we will need to DISABLE all  the GPU’s states except the last one (P7). You can disable every state from P0 till P7 simply by double clicking on its name (just go with  the mouse over “P0” and doubleclick), you will know if you are successful if that state changes colour.
For the 12/13 GPU mining rigs, the best motherboard to use is a ASRock H110 Pro BTC (Windows can only support 12 AMD GPU’s at the same time, you can combine 12 AMD + 6 Nvidia GPU’s but it’s not worth it, there are some 19+ Motherboards, but from personal experience you will have problems with them, so better stick to 6 or 12 GPU Mining Rigs)

Hi, great artical. I’m currently learning all about this and am about to build my rig. I’m planning on using Ethos and have 2 x RX 580 8G and 4 x Nvidia 1070 8G (I’m planning to add more cards over time on my Asrock h110 pro BTC Mobo). My question is this: Can I run this mixture of cards altogether on the current version of Ethos? And will Claymore handle this mixture of cards too?

We’re going to basically do the reverse with the memory clock speed, but there are some important things to know. If you have a GPU that is factory-clocked at 1750 mhz or less (virtually every 4GB RX 470/480 GPU, and most RX 470 8GB GPUs as well—the Sapphire Nitro being the notable exception—then 1750 mhz is going to probably be your limit via this method. Increasing the memory clock beyond 1750 mhz will likely result in a change to less-aggressive memory timings that will result in a loss of performance, and there is no way to prevent this outside of BIOS modifications. So if you have a card clocked at under 1750 mhz, bump it up to exactly 1750 mhz, which will give you a decent performance boost. If you have a 2000 mhz card, you can increase it incrementally, like the reverse of what we did with the core clock. Eventually you’ll experience system instability: artifacts on the screen, a GPU crash, bluescreen, etc. When that happens, back down a bit until things are stable.
At this point, we’re done with the essentials. If you’ve done everything correctly, you should be able to reboot and watch your rig automatically start mining shortly after the Windows desktop loads. There are a couple more steps that may be important to you, though.
Hey I have a question. Does Ethereum wallet ever gets fully synced? I’m running it for more that 3 days and now I got to the end and it wont sync at 100% cloud is at 69% and still some blocks left (currently 111) and it’s going up and down. I set up mining process successfully and got it to work (after solving antivirus problems that 5 times removed ethereum.exe…) I’m just curious about this wallet sync. Thanks
Step 1:The first thing you’ll need is an account on www.minergate.com. MinerGate has its own built-in wallet in order to allow users to start mining even if they don’t have a wallet address set up, so in order to protect your funds, we advise using a strong password and activating 2FA (2 factor authentication), 2FA will make sure no one can acess your funds even if they know your password. Remember, the safest place to store your funds is in your own wallet.
Click on the ‘View’ menu to deselect other cryptocurrencies, until only ETH remains. MinerGate will notify you that it’s loading a DAG (Dagger Hashimoto) file. This is around 1GB in size and represents the proof of work algorithms necessary to mine Ethereum data blocks. In the end, it all comes down to your personal preferences. If you have the appetite for the risk and the mining process intrigues you, give it a try. Just make sure you do your research and proceed with caution.
The R9 390 and 390X look great. They aren’t much slower than the Titan XP and 1080 Ti. The GTX 1080 tanks though and surprisingly the GTX 1070 is faster here, apparently this is down to an issue GDDR5X has when it comes to mining, despite offering more memory bandwidth it’s actually slower for mining, go figure.
There are two types of mining hardware: CPUs and GPUs. GPUs boast a higher hash rate, meaning they can guess puzzle answers more quickly. At time of writing, GPUs are now the only option for ether miners.

Right out of the gate, it’s important for you to understand that mining for Ethereum is going to take up a tremendous amount of electricity and it’s also going to use up almost all of your computer resources while you are actively mining.
It is no small wonder, therefore, that almost all of the aforementioned Radeon cards have been swept up by eager buyers. Nvidia cards aren’t affected and can still be bought easily, as they are a lot less efficient at mining Ethereum blocks. This even goes for newer, expensive Pascal models like the GeForce GTX 1000.
I get the same error for HD 6950 2GB gpu card with the latest AMD Drivers, AMD APP SDK and 2013 C++ redistribution installed. Also, this article should have shown how to solo gpu mine too. The pool get a few too many RPC connection lose, so that a lose in mining hash.
As more miners join the Ethereum network, the harder it becomes to solve the problem, which leads to an increase in the mining difficulty. This is why it’s currently costly to mine Ethereum. The returns are very low and equipment is still pretty expensive. However, as Ethereum price continues to rise, it could become worthwhile in the future.

  1. My recollection of how Bitcoin turned out indicates that most of those people will not make money. That, in fact, the simple rules of how markets work mean that most cannot make money, on several counts:
    Reports suggest that mass production of the chips began in January 2018, while Samsung are said to developing GPU mining chips which will be focused on altcoin mining algorithms. This could be a boon for Ethereum miners in particular, however further announcements will be needed to provide clarity there.
    Note : one may say “sounds weird to me, why hashing etc ?” Well, this is the Proof-of-Work paradigm, which solves the issue of “consensus”. For example, Zcash’s algorithm was introduced in a paper called Asymmetric Proof-of-Work Based on the Generalized Birthday Problem.
    To get started you will need to obtain a mining wallet to collect your digital currency, mining software, and of course your trusty PC equipped with a worthy “miner” or GPU, or better yet multiple GPUs. NiceHash is a simple software package that will get you up and running, but there are a myriad of mining app choices and wallet types out there to choose from, with lots of guides on the net to educate yourself. We’re going to be focusing on the hardware and mining performance side of things in this piece, however.
