I’m wondering if you can help me troubleshoot something with Claymore Miner, though. It randomly crashes on me without any error messages (even when I add pause to the end of the start.bat to check). Is this because of some instability in my hardware? I haven’t overclocked anything and this is a fairly recent installation of Windows 10. Rechnet man die täglich 144 Blöcke auf die 4mio.$ hoch, so müsste man einen täglichen Kostenaufwand von 28.000$ betreiben um täglich einen Block generieren zu können, gut 900$ um einen Block pro Monat generieren zu können und immerhin noch 80$ wenn man statistisch einen Block pro Jahr generieren wollte. D.h. man müsste sich jeden Monat einen HighEndPC gönnen um mit etwas Glück einen Block im Jahr generieren zu können.

@spagnola – I wasn’t being dismissive at all – I own a few GPUs myself. Maybe my tone was a bit assertive because I tire of seeing individuals with no interest in our technology just ‘wanting to mine’ and then becoming hostile when they quickly realize we’re not yet-another-doge to point pools at.
However, being a tech enthusiast and a believer in disruptions, I truly believe there’s a bright future for cryptocurrencies. If I’m right, the current rise in Bitcoin and Ethereum is just the start. And one coin might be worth 100x its price today, which might justify mining it today.

ethminer communicates with geth on port 8545 (the default RPC port in geth). You can change this by giving the –rpcport option to geth. Ethminer will find get on any port. Note that you need to set the CORS header with –rpccorsdomain localhost. You can also set port on ethminer with -F http://127.0.0.1:3301. Setting the ports is necessary if you want several instances mining on the same computer, although this is somewhat pointless. If you are testing on a private cluster, we recommend you use CPU mining instead.

Am I up and mining now? or is it just running in a loop? I did everything right in the instructions. I am running windows 10 on Nvidia Geforce Gtx 960M with an intel core i7. any info would be greatly appreciated.
Troubleshooting tip:  Some miners have had success installing all GPU’s at once and then installing the drivers.  Others prefer to install only one card, install the drivers, shut down the system and then install the rest of the GPU’s and then just let them all be recognized by Windows (you’ll feel the system lagging, some flickers, or brief black screens while each card is detected by Windows).
