Save your Private Key provided.  A good practice is to open a notepad and enter in your info – password, private key, and your Ethereum address (which you’ll get shortly), and save that text file along with your Keystore File, in an Encrpted file (using WinRar or similar program) and then store a copy of that on a USB drive or cloud drive and the individual files (storing only the encrypted file digitally).

If you’re reading a newbie’s guide to Ethereum mining and have a GPU powerful enough to make it worthwhile, we’re going to assume you’re running Windows so we’ll focus on mining Ethereum on that platform.

Disclosure: Mining metrics are calculated based on a network hash rate of 231,642 GH/s and using a ETH – USD exchange rate of 1 ETH = $ 712.07. These figures vary based on the total network hash rate and on the ETH to USD conversion rate. Block reward is fixed at 3 ETH and future block reward reductions are not taken into account. The average block time used in the calculation is 15 seconds. The electricity price used in generating these metrics is $ 0.12 per kWh. Network hash rate varies over time, this is just an estimation based on current values.
If the miner successfully connects to the pool and starts mining coins, you should see some output referring to the current hash rate. You can also visit the mining pool site after a short while to see if your stats there update.
Thanks. In order to make any money through GPU mining, you have to be on a coin that ASICs can’t be built for. Basically, the hashing algorithm has to be such that you disallow proprietary hardware and makes it accessible for the regular guy. That is the basis of the SCRYPT hash used by Ethereum and several other coins.
The estimated kilowatt hours on the rig should be around 720 assuming that you under clocked it. If it’s not under clocked, it will probably be around a 1000 or more. Remember each card can consume anywhere from 150-250 watts depending on the clock settings, so its safe to assume its going to be greater than less. If you have anymore questions, let me know!
