I get the same error for HD 6950 2GB gpu card with the latest AMD Drivers, AMD APP SDK and 2013 C++ redistribution installed. Also, this article should have shown how to solo gpu mine too. The pool get a few too many RPC connection lose, so that a lose in mining another factor I read is that ethereum will switch to PoS “soon”. And once they do that switch, an asics device specifically for ethereum would be unusable. I don’t really understand the technical side of PoS and why that’s the case, but let’s just say this is true. How do we know when exactly ethereum will be switching to PoS? I have gotten the feeling that in the mining world, every announcement is always late. almost nobody meets their deadlines. I have read some forum posts of people saying they wanted to switch until the end of 2016, others say it may take another 3-4 years. Why so vague?
Great guide, I wish I had this a few months ago before I started mknkn. I’ve gone through all this the hard way which is good but this guide is very clear and straightforward. Having said that I wonder if you would have any idea how to fix the issue I have come across. After mining for two weeks on windows 10 with claymore on nanopool @ 6 x 1070 GeForce. My miner went offline. It says “ cannot write a buffer for DAG” CUDA error 77. It also says “an illegal instruction was encountered” and “calc DAG failed” I have increased the virtual memory but that did not work. My hard drive says it has not 15gb of 110.
Even harder to find than the RX 480 is the AMD RX 470. A year ago, this was the absolute best card for mining. With a slight BIOS mod, it can do 29Mh/s while pulling 140 watts. Just like the other AMD cards listed, my favorite model is the AMD Sapphire RX 470 Nitro+ (Model #11256-10-20G).
Ethminer comes with a few mostly simple steps, but you are building from source. If you haven’t built anything from source before this could be daunting. I’ll try to make it as easy as possible, but again, I’ve got things to do and all that jazz.
