Any successful attacks present a risk to the Ethereum Platform, expected proper execution and sequencing of ETH transactions, and expected proper execution and sequencing of contract computations. Despite the efforts of the Ethereum Stiftung and Team, known or novel mining attacks may be successful.
This guide is focused on the Ethash algorithm mining, so the settings and the tutorials from this guide are not optimized for the other mining algorithms like CryptoNight. For this I plan to make another guide or expand this one so that you will understand how to optimize your GPU’s for the other algorithms.

I may be biased, but I think GPU mining with some ASIC resistant measures would be a fantastic platform for fast adoption of Ethereum and network stability.

It is using Nanapool in US east cost address eth-us-east1.nanopool.org:9999 as the mining pool. As a general rule of thumb, choose a pool address that is closest to geographic location. I’ve had success both ways and so if you run into an issue with one method delete the drivers and try the other method.  And if you do need to remove your drivers use the DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) program from Guru3d.com to remove everything cleanly and then start over.

Secondly, you’ll need to get your hands on a mining application/program that allows you to connect to the peer network responsible for securing Ethereum, mining Ether, and producing the Ethereum along the way.

Ohne Mining könnten keine Transaktionen mit Ethereum durchgeführt werden.
GPU mining has benefits to the network not discussed here, which is why coins like Monero are unlikely to go to ASIC. New blockchains like Ethereum can perform different types of calculations on the blockchain. Because of this, you are unlikely to ever see ASICs on Ethereum. There will always be a significant number of coins that are ASIC-resistant. The chances that one of those coins becomes profitable is higher than picking a singular coin and hoping that that one coin succeeds.

  1. You can use any personal computer to mine Ethereum, provided the system has a Graphic Card (GPU) with at least 2 GB of RAM. Central Processing Unit (CPU) mining is simply an exercise in frustration. It takes an extended period to complete, and the profits are little thanks to the cost. GPUs are your best bet as they are 200 times faster than CPUs when it comes to mining Ether. AMD cards are more efficient than Nvidia cards as well.
    Great, you’re most of the way there. Next, open up Visual Studio, and then find the ethereum.sln solution file within the /cpp-ethereum directory. Open that up. Visual Studio might complain about some things being the wrong format — if it does, say okay and just let it do its thing.
    Note : what about a dedicated OS like EthOS ? Personally, I’m reluctant to pay for a Ubuntu-based distro with “features” that are not utterly impossible to set up manually on a classic distro. Just sayin’.
