Running a CPU you might be able to generate 0.15 Mega Hashes whilst with a decent GPU with enough memory you could be doing upwards 25 Mega Hashes (you can choose a GPU to mine ether here and use our guide on how to choose a GPU to mine ether). So in terms of total efficiency, taking into account electrical costs, a GPU is definitely worth it even if it costs you $200.
Press enter, and the screen should start downloading the blockchain for Ethereum. At this point, you are synchronising with the rest of the Ethereum network. Sometimes your fire wall can block this process. If so, just click “Allow access.”
And another factor I read is that ethereum will switch to PoS “soon”. And once they do that switch, an asics device specifically for ethereum would be unusable. I don’t really understand the technical side of PoS and why that’s the case, but let’s just say this is How do we know when exactly ethereum will be switching to PoS? I have gotten the feeling that in the mining world, every announcement is always late. almost nobody meets their deadlines. I have read some forum posts of people saying they wanted to switch until the end of 2016, others say it may take another 3-4 years. Why so vague?

For powering 6 GPUs it’s important to buy a 1200W power supply with Platinum connectors. Using anything lower than a Platinum connector will cause a loss of energy during use; which will ultimately factor into your bottom line. If you’re planning on using less than 6 GPUs you can go with a less powerful power supply.
There are couple of tricks that most people don’t know. On most of GTX 1060 and 1070 GPU’s you can reduce power draw by 50%! That can make GTX 1070 give around 32 MH/s for only 80W from the wall making it the most efficient GPU.
(4) Choose a Mining Pool to join: Claymore Ethereum Miner’s default is Nanopool which has a great API and Web UI. Miner doesn’t need to register with Nanapool. As soon as a Ethereum’s public address using Nanapool to receive some reward, the account will be automatically setup with that public address.
That ASIC might earn you 10 dollars profit in the first month. Though due to the constant arms race of acquiring hashing power, your profits would decrease each subsequent month. Here’s a look at the increasing Bitcoin hash rate over the last year.
Theoretically, you could build an FPGA with 16gb or memory on 1 RAM controller, with a single processor, and run about 50 mh/s on 1 card. However the development cost is fairly high for that, and ethereum has been fighting off the PoS Ghost transition for 12+ months now. If anyone had known 1 year ago, that casper would not go into effect in October, they would have made such a card. Hindsight is 20/20. People think Casper will again be rolled out around november/december, and it’s july 1, so no one will invest 20+K to develop an FPGA/ASIC card for a coin that is going to proof of stake.
To monitor your rig, you have two options. You can either log in through SSH or look at the generated stats panel. The stats panel has the advantage that it’s a simple web page and you can easily view it from anywhere. SSH poses the advantage, that should you have any issues, you can easily remotely manage the system (as long as you’re happy with Linux command line operations).
ALWAYS have your Motherboard’s Integrated GPU as your main video output or target display, that way you will remove the stress of mining the GPU’s to produce a video output (in the bios settings, it should be under the Chipset option, and will you need to set the PCI-E to IGFX (integrated graphics adapter).
This guide shows you the basics of solo mining, it should give you a good idea of how everything is connected, if you would like to use a mining pool instead you can try our How to connect to an Ethereum mining pool guide.

(10) Increase Mining Operation: If one’s mining appetite grows, then it is time to learn how to build an Ethereum Mining Rig. This video introduces how to build a 6x GTX 1070 GPUs mining rig has a hashrate of 180 MH/s, please have a look. Another article should be written on how to build this dedicated hardware.
One other oft-mentioned number statistic for an ASIC chip is the number of cores or hashing engines that are on the chip. While this number is directly related to performance, it is not necessarily a comparitive relation.
Actual computation on the EVM is achieved through a stack-based bytecode language (the ones and zeroes that a machine can read), but developers can write smart contracts in high-level languages such as Solidity and Serpent that are easier for humans to read and write.
Weniger anzeigenMehr anzeigen
when i create the mine.bat file as you described above, i save it. then i go to see if it works and it just opens up the notepad file that i filled in with the values i filled in above. i have the file saved in the claymore folder.
Also, this calculator shows that DAG size will only reach the point to render 3GB unusable around the end of this year (block ~6.9 million, epoch 231), not epoch 180 like shown in the article. Not sure which to trust…
 – You want to get a simple low end CPU and at least 4GB of RAM – Tip: make sure your motherboard, CPU and RAM are compatible (i.e. LGA 1151 motherboards need an 1151 socket CPU, and DDR4 RAM / LGA 1150 motherboards need an 1150 CPU and DDR3 RAM)
Another option is to join a pool. These are groups of Ethereum miners who share their computing resources and share their money. However, a word of warning, some of these pools are a little shady. Be very careful about joining a pool, especially if you have to pay any money to join. Some of them are basically just scams. The world of cryptocurrency mining is a little bit like the Wild West during the days of the Gold Rush, and you really need to be cautious.
Bitmain Technologies’ BM1382 calculates 63 hashes per clock cycle (Hz), while their more efficient BM1384 calculates 55 hashes per clock cycle. Similarly, while these hashes per clock cycle are spot-on for the claims regarding the number of cores, BitFury’s BF756C55 is claimed to have 756 cores, but yields around 11.6 hashes per clock cycle. This is because the reference to cores sometimes mean different things, and certain designs result in less straightforward calculation[1]
The worst thing that could happen when once you’ve invested all the time and money involved in setting up your mining operation is a hardware failure or internet downtime. But when you mine with us, you can rest assured that any single piece of hardware failing does not mean the end of your operation thanks to scalability.
About a week ago I was hunting for a few Radeon cards for a project, specifically a second Nitro+ RX 570 for a crossfire comparison, needless to say I couldn’t find one and gave up.  A friend of mine said he was looking for a second RX 480 for his setup and that he couldn’t find one outside of crazy high prices, chalked that up to EOL on the RX 480s and told him to snag a similar RX 580.  He couldn’t find one of those either.  Thinking he just didn’t know how to search, since he’s not very computer savvy, I decided to help out.  That’s when things got interestingly and eerily similar to searching for a Radeon card in late 2013 – early 2014 back when I was deep into Litecoin and Feathercoin mining.  Then I came across Ethereum and everything became clear.  While I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on Ethereum I am no stranger to the world of crypto currencies. Having spent months on end tweaking GPU bat files for LTC and FTC while setting up ASIC miners for BTC, I decided to jump in on this one to see what the craze was all about!
The NVIDIA GTX 1070 is capable of mining at 30Mh per second while consuming just 100W of electric power. The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Windforce OC is the best of the models available currently on the market. It operates cooler than most 1070 models probably due to the fact that it is available with a twin fan design. On sale at amazon, you will have this Ethereum mining GPU in your possession.
STEP – After you found the limit of your Memory clock rate, reduce your overclock setting by 100mhz and that’s your optimal GPU Memory clock rate. For example if you got a crash at 800mhz memory speed or saw that error, reduce the memory to 700mhz and that’s your optimum.
@joeysteel – Ethereum isn’t being build with the purpose of giving miners a chance to make 150x on returns when Ether gets listed on markets, nor is it build to to give GPU owners a way to redirect their processing power to Ethereum because ASICs stole their lunch.
What do you want to optimise for? Lowest upfront cost per unit hashrate? Lowest ongoing cost (upfront + electricity)? Best hashrate per unit electricity? Lowest heat (and electricity) per unit hashrate?
That’s based on a Tuesday note from Morgan Stanley analysts led by Joseph Moore, who say that Ethereum prices have remained high overall—up about 8,900% over the past year—making Ethereum mining more profitable. In turn, that profitability has driven consumers to snap up graphics processing units (GPUs) used to mine, or acquire new cryptocurrencies, from major suppliers such as AMD and Nvidia.
MEMORY – This works identically as the GPU core, except it’s for the memory. This is the holy grail, this is the most important part of GPU mining and it’s very RANDOM. There is no fixed values from which you can know that it will work 100% on your GPU. There is just one proper way of doing it without risking any problems. We will need to disable P0 and P1 by double clicking on them.
The answer is Difficulty. By automatically adjusting the computational difficulty of solving a block, the Ethereum blockchain is able to maintain ~15 second intervals. You’ll notice Difficulty closely tracks hashrate and it too has seen exponential growth this year:

One Reply to ““Ethereum Mining Return””

  1. First, the total amount of Ether available to mine is currently capped at 18 million per year. If you do the math, that means that no more than 49,315 Ether can be mined per day (about one every 15 to 17 seconds). In practice, however, around 30,000 new Ether total for all the miners worldwide represents a pretty good day of mining. That represents more than $8.9 million per day at today’s prices.
Not everyone has access to a computer, however, and not everyone has the time, knowledge or patience to start mining Zcash on their own, especially since there is no Graphic User Interface (GUI) Miner available yet. If you want to mine on your own computer, but need a little push to do so, you’re in the right place. But if you’re looking to profit from Zcash mining with no effort at all, this guide will do the trick.
Now replace “” with your Ethereum Wallet address (which starts with 0x…) so copy that from your other text file and paste it here.  Then replace “” with any name you would like to create for your miner.  We’ll use “MiningRig1” for our example, so you now have:
