So I had this awesome idea for sticking a single mem controller and processor with 16gb of ddr5 ram (which is actually fairly cheap at $6-7 each) only to find out I have a LOT to learn about electrical engineering and programming.

How on earth could you have 80 asic chips sharing a 3GB VRAM? That’s not possible. The chips may be capable of 2.5 MH/s without a memory bottleneck, but what difference does that make? The only other explanation would be they have 3 GB of VRAM per chip, which would be .24 TB of VRAM. And, of course, they give no price.

Goodnight everyone, I’m trying to mine with my Zogis video card Gforce 6500 1gb ddr2. however appears a driver mensangem cuda wrong version. already installed the nvidea driver straight from the site, both in windows 7 as the 10 in opcl also does not work in certain mining CPU. I’m just not getting the video card. Anyone know why?
Claymore software has a fixed fee of 1% when you are mining ethereum or 2% fee when you are mining decred. There are various problems that can happen due to the way the Fee is working. The fee works in a way that each hour you will be disconnected from your mining process and for about 1-2 minutes, you will mine for the Claymore developers. After that it will connect you again to your pool and start the mining again. By constant disconnecting and reconnecting each hour your GPU cools down and then heats up again, and by doing that are risking the life of your GPU’s. I heard from many people that after some time one of the GPU’s would reset to the default clock settings because of the constant disconnecting/reconnecting or it would “hang” and crash the miner or cause it to recreate the DAG file, and you end up losing valuable time with that. Claymore is a really cool software and I think there could be a better way to support the developers, rather than risking our own miner stability. By using the official Claymore I lost about 3% of my shares compared to using the Claymore without the Developer Fee, everyone can try it for themselves and see the difference.

While, on the surface, this is incredibly easy, as I’ll show below, you must be aware that mining is very much like trading. Cryptocurrency prices fluctuate, your equipment might break, and so on. For example, when I started putting this project together, the rough number estimate was that I’d recoup my investment within six months. Now, with the same calculations, it would take eight months. The advantage of mining over trading is that coin prices can be somewhat more stable, and at the end of the day, you’ll still have the equipment. Ist Ethereum Mining sinnvoll? Jein. Ethereum Mining wirft aktuell einen Gewinn ab. Beim Mining sollten Hashleistung, Strompreis, Verkaufspreis und Difficulty unbedingt im Auge behalten werden. Es gibt keine Garantie für langfristigen Profit.
The reality is that the threat of a likely switch to Proof of Stake is whats making it uneconomic for anyone to produce asics, as you know in advance they would have a limited lifetime, and the cost of creating the asic is so high ($millions!) you’d want to know you could have a profitable run for awhile, with the switch to PoS, you wont get that.
If you are wondering if it is worth mining Ethereum you can get an idea on how much Ether (ETH) should be mined with a specific hashrate depending on what hardware you have available with a simple mining profitability calculator. All you have to enter is the hashrate you are getting (you can run ethminer in benchmark mode to see what hashrate to expect from your CPU or GPU if you have not yet started mining) and you will get information about the expected mined amount in ETH and USD. The calculator uses up to date data from etherchain’s API to get fresh information about the Network Hashrate, average Blocktime and 1 ETH price, so it should be pretty accurate with the results at the moment of time you use it. The estimated coins to be mined and their USD value are shown for a period of 1 Minute, 1 Hour, 1 Day, 1 Week and 1 Month, though the longer the period is the less accurate the estimation could be.
Running a CPU you might be able to generate 0.15 Mega Hashes whilst with a decent GPU with enough memory you could be doing upwards 25 Mega Hashes (you can choose a GPU to mine ether here and use our guide on how to choose a GPU to mine ether). So in terms of total efficiency, taking into account electrical costs, a GPU is definitely worth it even if it costs you $200.
