“Ethereum Mining Rig Kit”

@philakone I would change your insistence on the 347 nvidia driver especially if you’re addressing the new Maxwell cards. The latest version (362.xx) works perfectly fine on Win7/8. Besides, you need cuda 7.5 for Genoil’s miner and that requires a newer driver (352.xx at least – ?). And, you only specify miner settings for AMD that have no bearing on nVidia… “IGNORE EVERY GUIDE”? Oy — but can’t fault you for trying.
Hi, great artical. I’m currently learning all about this and am about to build my rig. I’m planning on using Ethos and have 2 x RX 580 8G and 4 x Nvidia 1070 8G (I’m planning to add more cards over time on my Asrock h110 pro BTC Mobo). My question is this: Can I run this mixture of cards altogether on the current version of Ethos? And will Claymore handle this mixture of cards too?
Anything using large amounts of electricty is bound to generate heat, and this is especially true for hardware typically used for in mining scenarios. Unless you live somewhere where it’s constantly below 15 degrees celcius indoors, the heat generated by this equiptment will make any room uncomfortably hot.
(3) Ethereum Mining Software: Download and install Claymore-Ethereum-Miner that works with Nvidia GPU optimally. Please follow the Mining Clients – Claymore – Windows instructions from Nanapool help page, the next few steps repeat the important info.
The reason why you can’t use an ASIC miner for Ethereum hashing is because the person who designed Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, specifically designed Ethereum to be more decentralized than Bitcoin. He thought this was an innate flaw with the grandfather Cryptocurrency. Investors with more capital could afford better ASIC miners and thus make more money.
The specific proof-of-work algorithm that ethereum uses is called ‘ethash’, designed to require more memory to make it harder to mine using expensive ASICs – specialized mining chips that are now the only profitable way of mining bitcoin.
Often when OpenCL fails, you have to reboot the system, not just restart miner. Sometimes even soft reboot won’t work and you have to press Reset button. It is because the fail is at drivers level, Windows does not like such things and drivers too.
I’ve heard that Ethereum mining is ASIC resistant since it requires memory-hard hashing algorithms. However, why can’t miners buy large DRAM and devote the memory to ASIC mining? What prevents miners from making an ASIC paired with large DRAM?
MyEtherWallet is an open-source client-side Ether wallet running on Javascript. MyEtherWallet makes it easy to create secure wallets without the command line or the need to run an Ethereum client on your computer. By running MyEtherWallet on an offline computer, you can create secure paper wallets for your ether holdings.
-logsmaxsize   maximal size of debug log files, in MB. At every start the miner checks all files in its folder, selects all files that contain “_log.txt” string and removes oldest files if summary files size is larger than specified value.
@adaseb Yep, they COUNT on folks like you! Disregard all technical feasibility and solid evidence on the ‘net that it’s bogus, but sooo wanting it to be true that you swallow it hook, line, and sinker. Go for it! Buy the limit! We’d all like to hear about your experience with it, really.
