Using values higher than 2 allows you also to set custom delay between DAG generation on GPUs, for example, “-gser 5” means same as “-gser 2” and also adds 3sec delay between DAG generation (can be useful for buggy drivers and/or weak PSU).

I get the same error for HD 6950 2GB gpu card with the latest AMD Drivers, AMD APP SDK and 2013 C++ redistribution installed. Also, this article should have shown how to solo gpu mine too. The pool get a few too many RPC connection lose, so that a lose in mining hash.
Dear fiend, I’m experiencing a problem that showed up today, after an unwanted windows update (that I was stopping for about 3 weeks), my mining rig slowed down a 35% in hash rate. I have windows 10. Are you or anyone else you know having the same problem ?
@Ursium I really like your opinion and hope everyone that joins Ethereum thinks the same. Must of the alt-coins are a pump and dump ecosystem and this just tells me people do not care about cryptocurrency. they just live the dream of getting rich easily.
It is probably going to take a little bit of time for you to really get synchronized with the Ethereum blockchain, but this all depends on the size of the blockchain at its current moment in the speed of your online connection. You absolutely have to wait until you are 100% synchronized before you initiate the actual mining process, or all of your work will be for naught.
About a week ago I was hunting for a few Radeon cards for a project, specifically a second Nitro+ RX 570 for a crossfire comparison, needless to say I couldn’t find one and gave up.  A friend of mine said he was looking for a second RX 480 for his setup and that he couldn’t find one outside of crazy high prices, chalked that up to EOL on the RX 480s and told him to snag a similar RX 580.  He couldn’t find one of those either.  Thinking he just didn’t know how to search, since he’s not very computer savvy, I decided to help out.  That’s when things got interestingly and eerily similar to searching for a Radeon card in late 2013 – early 2014 back when I was deep into Litecoin and Feathercoin mining.  Then I came across Ethereum and everything became clear.  While I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on Ethereum I am no stranger to the world of crypto currencies. Having spent months on end tweaking GPU bat files for LTC and FTC while setting up ASIC miners for BTC, I decided to jump in on this one see what the craze was all about!
Hashes per watt is absolutely not the metric you want to judge a card’s merit on. Case and point: you pick an RX 560 and the ilk as the ultimate card, even at a pittance of hashes per card. Usually, the increased coins earned from the extra hashpower outstrips the extra power usage significantly (up until you hit that steep portion of the performance exponential curve). If you’re scaling anywhere past a few cards or a single rig, 75W vs 100W on a card isn’t your primary concern.

When you dive into the world of GPU mining you’ll quickly find that to make any serious money that you’ll need to invest in a fair bit of hardware. Let’s go trough the hardware that one would likely need if they wanted to build a 6  or 7 GPU ethereum mining machine. Over at the Ethereum Community Forums you’ll find hundreds of threads about building a 6-7 GPU mining machine and you can make some pretty good money off a system like that. With 7 AMD Radeon RX 480 video cards that have been optimized for mining you should be able to get around 200 MH/s when mining ethereum, so if you plug that into a profit calculator you are looking at making a profit of $12,870 per year at the current difficulty and ETH price of $245. That’s guessing the rig uses around 1,000 Watts 24/7 and electric costs $0.1265 KW/h. (Please keep in mind the price of ethereum could always drop to zero or skyrocket, so think long and hard before you buy hardware to do this.)
As opposed to the Bitcoin Cash and (especially) the upcoming SegWit2X forks, Bitcoin Gold very specifically does not make a claim to be the “real” Bitcoin. Instead, the Bgold project hopes it can prove a valuable exercise for Bitcoin; a sort of test case for a hard fork that Bitcoin itself may one day require.

Honestly its super weird how this issue was resolved. Basically I just rebooted several times and then it started working…. I really don’t get this stuff, I have 2 degrees in computer science and an A+ cert and still don’t understand it lol
The Radeon R9 295X2 has by far the highest hash rate (46.0 MH/s) of the Ethereum GPUs on the market and will cost you $600. It has a power cost per day of about $1.44, a return per day of about $1.61 and a cost per MH/s of $13.04. This gives a return per year of $586.43.

When you first boot it up, you must have a single GPU connected to the x16 slot closest to the CPU. The initial boot up will take a few minutes. Once that’s done, you will need to change the remote and local config files. To help with this, gpuShack has a fantastic knowledge base. Of course, if you haven’t yet, then you will need to get yourself an Ethereum Wallet/ address.
so this “long lasting ecosystem through the development of a inclusive community of entrepreneurs, developers and investors” … excludes me because I’m not an “investor” with cash upfront? or because the time I spend developing goes to… I don’t know, paying my rent?
Pro-tips: check out the following GPU’s: AMD Rx 470/480 Rx 570/580, AMD R9 range, HD 7990 / 7950 (if used cards are available, try to get them from a gamer instead of a miner, with a warranty if possible).  For Nvidia, look at the 1060 / 1070 / 1080 series cards.  As with everything, do your own due diligence to evaluate GPU’s based on their hashrate, power requirements, availability and price.
We modified our x99 system to run the memory at the base 2133MHz and the 6800k was taken down to 2 cores and 4 threads clocked at 1.2GHz since we’re not needed CPU power and to lessen the power draw as much as possible outside of graphics cards.
The AMD Radeon R9 295X2 came out in April 2014 and is over two years old, but this Dual-GPU card is able to be at the top of the performance chart with 57.6 MH/s of performance. We’ve seen these selling for as low as $500 on eBay, but the TDP on this card is an awe-inspiring 500W, so packing 7 of these into a single system would be more than what any one power supply could handle. The thought of a single system pulling  3,500+ Watts is pretty crazy!
SMART PLUG – If the rig is frozen and cannot be accessed with remote desktop, then we need to restart it. I use smart plugs for that. You can monitor your power draw and restart your rigs with it (by switching power off and back on)
It is no small wonder, therefore, that almost all of the aforementioned Radeon cards have been swept up by eager buyers. Nvidia cards aren’t affected and can still be bought easily, as they are a lot less efficient at mining Ethereum blocks. This even goes for newer, expensive Pascal models like the GeForce GTX 1000.
Some mining enthusiast swear that Linux is the best operating system for mining. While this did use to be the case, there are stronger disagreements on the topic then previously. While I do prefer Windows, Linux does have it’s advantages and being a slimmer system it can have its upsides. Furthermore, Windows usually comes with a price tag, so if you’re looking for a free option, then Linux is the one for you.
Therefore, when you go out to look for the best mining GPU you can find, you should think about the memory the GPU features, as well as its power needs and cost. It’s important to consider the GPUs value, because when you start mining for Bitcoin or Ethereum, you won’t be yielding large amounts of cryptocurrency to start. You should therefore try to mitigate your initial costs as much as possible to maximise your profits and start making your initial investment back as soon as possible.
If you ever needed to reinstall your wallet, do so then put this keystore folder EXACTLY where it was before. Start up your Ethereum and it’ll ask for the password that you originally saved with that address.
Blockchain-based currencies trade network security for personal security. From a network perspective, a blockchain is significantly more secure then a bank; but, from a user perspective, it is the opposite. Comparison bitcoin to classic fintech, risk moves from the network to the user, and security moves from the user to the network.
