“Ethereum Mining-Software CPU”

@philakone I just picked up a couple ASUS STRIX Radeon R7 370 Overclocked 4 GB cards to install in a new rig. Care to share the settings you used for your R7 370’s or point to the thread? Much appreciated !!
If you’re connected and things are running smoothly, geth should eventually connect to peers and import the blockchain. When it’s close to the current block height (you can check the current block height at http://stats.ethdev.com), you’ll want to start running ethminer.
Therefore, when you go out to look for the best mining GPU you can find, you should think about the memory the GPU features, as well as its power needs and cost. It’s important to consider the GPUs value, because when you start mining for Bitcoin or Ethereum, you won’t be yielding large amounts of cryptocurrency to start. You should therefore try to mitigate your initial costs as much as possible to maximise your profits and start making your initial investment back as soon as possible.

Dazu… [mehr]
Initially I started testing with the go-ethereum client but started to find mixed results with certain GPUs, I wasn’t sure why that was and couldn’t solve a few issues, so I scrapped the results and moved on. Parity is another popular client, but instead I decided to use Claymore’s Dual Ethereum miner version 9.6 for a few reasons. Number one was it worked really well with the current generation AMD and Nvidia GPUs.
Although the merit of these approaches can be debated, ultimately these figures are not as important as the ones that detail what is required to make ASIC work. If an ASIC requires highly stable power supply, then the power supply circuitry on a board may be more expensive than for another ASIC. If the ASIC has a complex communications protocol, additional relatively expensive components may be required. If an ASIC’s die is large, fewer (rectangular slices) can be obtained from a (circular) wafer, defects affect its design dispropotionately, and cooling solutions are generally more complex compared to smaller die chips which in turn have other overhead. Chips with a BGA design are less simple to integrate than a QFN, requiring more expensive (inspection and testing) equipment.
Step 1: The first thing you need to do is go to this link download Geth. Geth is the program that communicates with the Ethereum Network and acts as the a relay between your computer, its hardware and the rest of the ethereum network computers so if a block is mined by another computer your Geth program will pick it up and then pass on the new information onto your GPU or CPU for mining.
I am telling you right now that with the broad innovation that Ethereum brings to the table combined with an instant network of transaction processors eager to climb onboard would give Ethereum a fantastic start. Far better than building a new processing network. If you read my above post “Ode to GPU mining” you’ll see that GPU mining is and has shown to be very well distributed and provides excellent and accessible avenues for true enthusiasts to really contribute above and beyond average users who will probably care more about the functionality of Ethereum more than mining it.
GPUs also provide stable growth of hashing power. Even in the great depletion of GPUs we saw in all retail locations after litecoin jumped up to $50 there was only a doubling in the litecoin difficulty and that doubling occurred fairly slowly over about a month and a half period. When the Scrypt ASICs came online this month it was obvious virtually overnight. This stable growth and predictable access to hardware (compared to ASICs) encourages average folks to look into GPU mining as they can have a certain amount of predictability in the outcome if they are going to invest in a new GPU for that purpose or add wear and tear to their beloved gaming hardware.
What do you want to optimise for? Lowest upfront cost per unit hashrate? Lowest ongoing cost (upfront + electricity)? Best hashrate per unit electricity? Lowest heat (and electricity) per unit hashrate?
The Shares section relates to how the work is divided by different machines in the mining pool to ensure everyone receives a fair reward in line with work done by their machine. See the Bitcoin wiki for more information on this.
Nvidia’s GTX 1070 isn’t just a great graphics card for gaming, it’s also an excellent mining GPU. This is because it manages a high hash rate of around 30 mh/s without needed too much power. Remember, the more power a GPU requires, the more expensive it is to run, which will eat into your cryptocurrency profits. As with many recent Nvidia GPUs, the 1070 is on the pricey side, so you will have to take an initial hit when starting up, but if you’re into cryptocurrency mining for the long run, the 1070 is easily the best mining GPU currently available.
Once MinerGate has finished setup, it will place a shortcut on your desktop. Click ‘Finish’ to launch the program automatically. Once MinerGate launches click ‘Create Account’ at the top right. Enter both your email address and password. Make a note of both of these as you’ll need them to be able to access any mined funds. Next click ‘Register’.
Similar instructions should work on Windows. If you encounter a bug however, please raise on the relevant github issue section (https://github.com/ethereum/cpp-ethereum/issues for Ethminer and https://github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/issues for Geth)
DDR3 is pretty slow for ETH mining, look at the GDDR5X it’s slower than GDDR5 and DDR3 is way slower for mining, but it would be probably cost effective with those DDR3, seems like DDR4 are too expensive that’s plus.

In my case there are 6 AMD GPU’s and I have disabled all other sensors because they don’t interest me. We only want to have GPU Memory Errors displayed, this will tell you if your GPU is overclocked too much. Now this is the way we will test your GPU’s optimal settings.
OK, so that sounds like a pretty serious error, the card is halting its mining operation for some reason. It could be overheating or experiencing some other kind of hardware or software error. Can you find the log file? Reading it would probably reveal why the card is giving problems. I believe adding the “-dbg 1” switch will create a log file which will help for troubleshooting.
Up to a point, more VRAM will also improve performance. The present difference between a 4- and 8-gig version of the same card can be up to 5 MH/s (To clarify, MH/s stands for megahash per second, and a megahash is a million hash attempts.)
Overclocking Tool. If you’re planning to optimize the performance of your rig (which you should be), it’s recommended that you get an overclocking tool of some kind. Most GPU manufacturers will provide one for you to use. Also, depending on which mining software you will use, you will need it to control the fan speed on the GPUs. Furthermore, AMDs new WattMan has proven to be a very well designed software tweaking your GPU settings.
Its is at 2nd place because its ASIC resistant, which means trust, which means you mine and be sure that value is safe and you dont need to sell it, if ltc was ASIC resistant then its value would be around $50 and not $4. ASIC means only whales can mine, the value is not distributed, whales mine and dump because for them if they dont dump then other whales will. ETH has a check for ASIC, if the questionable device dont pass then it will not mine. there will never be ASIC for eth which means, you can mine or buy safely.
Requiring a tremendous amount of computer resources and quite a bit of processing power to solve challenging math problems to produce more impactful and more secure encryption protocols (amongst so many other things), blockchain essentially allows you to earn crypto currency by providing your computer resources to be used by the peer distributed network.
This is the main difference that exists between GPU and FPGA, both as the best Bitcoin mining rigs: A 600 MH/s hash rate GPU uses about 400-watts of power, while an 826 MH/s hash rate FPGAs consumes just 80-watts of power.
for example, “-allcoins 47” means that miner will expect DAG size for epoch #47 and will allocate appropriate GPU buffer at starting, instead of reallocating bigger GPU buffer (may crash) when it starts devfee mining.

Disable all components that you don’t plan to use. This might save a little bit of power, and since your miner will likely be running 24/7, it’ll add up. For me, that meant disabling onboard audio, the USB 3.0 ports, one of the SATA controllers, the Firewire port, and the serial port.

One Reply to ““Ethereum Mining-Software CPU””

  1. When it comes to choosing your Ethereum mining operating software, there are three main contenders: Windows, Linux, and ethOS. If you’re a Mac fanboy, it is possible, but it’s advised for numerous reasons.
Recently, Nvidia has been releasing mining-edition GPUs to satiate the huge demand for mining-capable cards. The first GTX 1xxx-based model to come out was the P106, which is basically a GTX 1060 without the display ports. Then, we had the P104 which is the GTX 1070 with memory optimized for mining. Eventually Nvidia is leaving the best for last.
Conversely, if you are up for it, CPU mining can be done. Just type in ‘ETHMINER’ then the enter key to start the process. The building of a DAG is still required in this step after which Geth takes over communication with Ethminer.
We’ve never done an article on GPU mining on Legit Reviews before, but continued interest in the ethereum project has caused Ether (the name of the cryptocurrency that runs on the ethereum blockchain app) to skyrocket in price by more than 2,800% this year alone. On Sunday, ethereum traded at an all-time high of $250.41, according to data from industry website CoinDesk. With increases and coin prices like that it has spiked the demand for discrete graphics cards in order to do GPU mining. Ethereum discourages the use of custom ASICs and FPGAs when it comes to mining, so this is something you could do if you wanted to on a PC with a powerful discrete graphics card.
