If you are running Windows Defender or some other anti-virus program, add an exception to it so that it does not flag the Claymore mining executable “EthDcrMiner64.exe” as a virus or try to disable/delete it.
As for those obsessed with how the GPU miners just go where the profit is, coins be damned etc. please don’t forget that the reason we have bitcoin, litecoin and all the others is because it is profitable to mine them. I am just as much a crypto zealot as the next guy but day to day I check on my rigs and make sure they are running 100% because if they are not it hurts my bottom line. I’ll leave my house to fix a problem at midnight because, especially the way things are now, I don’t want to lose a whole nights worth of productivity. If I was just doing it to be nice, because I believe in the cause, to be frank a down rig would wait til morning.
Place this exe into same folder where you have Claymore miner and run it. It will create a default config for first run so you can test immediately and see if it works. Let it run for 15 minutes and wait for first dev fee.
GPUs also provide stable growth of hashing power. Even in the great depletion of GPUs we saw in all retail locations after litecoin jumped up to $50 there was only a doubling in the litecoin difficulty and that doubling occurred fairly slowly over about a month and a half period. When the Scrypt ASICs came online this month it was obvious virtually overnight. This stable growth and predictable access to hardware (compared to ASICs) encourages average folks to look into GPU mining as they can have a certain amount of predictability in the outcome if they are going to invest in a new GPU for that purpose or add wear and tear to their beloved gaming hardware.
(I did get my ASIC Jalapeño miners from BFL before they were busted up, I did order more when they came around and offered to let everyone order more, and I still did manage to earn a pittance over and above my initial investment on both batches, regardless of the absolutely ridiculous production and shipping delays.)
We’re going to basically do the reverse with the memory clock speed, but there are some important things to know. If you have a GPU that is factory-clocked at 1750 mhz or less (virtually every 4GB RX 470/480 GPU, and most RX 470 8GB GPUs as well—the Sapphire Nitro being the notable exception—then 1750 mhz is going to probably be your limit via this method. Increasing the memory clock beyond 1750 mhz will likely result in a change to less-aggressive memory timings that will result in a loss of performance, and there is no way to prevent this outside of BIOS modifications. So if you have a card clocked at under 1750 mhz, bump it up to exactly 1750 mhz, which will give you a decent performance boost. If you have a 2000 mhz card, you can increase it incrementally, like the reverse of what we did with the core clock. Eventually you’ll experience system instability: artifacts on the screen, a GPU crash, bluescreen, etc. When that happens, back down a bit until things are stable.
In the early days of GPU mining, AMD cards were the clear winners, in terms of performance. More recent Nvidia cards (such as the Titan range) match or even exceed the performance of AMD cards. Mining performance for certain coins may be better or worse, depending on the manufacturer.

Geth is the underlying code for the Mist wallet and is the core service for syncing the Ethereum blockchain. Unfortunately, it is a command line service, which can make it hard and annoying to use. http://www.etherwall.com/Etherwall adds a GUI front-end to it, making it easier to use.
Ethereum value does fluctuate like many similar currencies but at it’s current value a return on investment in a few months is very likely . This is not guaranteed as I have no control over the value of Ethereum however it is showing great promise as many major institutions are investing. In addition to the value in mining Ethereum this system is flexible as it is a ASIC based miner so it can mine virtually any GPU
This video was done to represent 40 days of mining with a single RX 570 (non bios modded) to represent a best case scenario of what a gamer who wanted to use his RX 570 to mine Ethereum would have looked like.
Never underestimate the power of the Radeon RX 400 series. The Radeon RX 480 is not only the cheapest GPU in this list, it is also easily the most economic GPU. This card has a hash rate of 25 MH/s while only drawing 150 W at max load. You’ll make over $700 USD annually per card! Comparitively to the RX 580, this card is an awesome Ethereum miner!
What do you want to optimise for? Lowest upfront cost per unit hashrate? Lowest ongoing cost (upfront + electricity)? Best hashrate per unit electricity? Lowest heat (and electricity) per unit hashrate?
Recently, Nvidia has been releasing mining-edition GPUs to satiate the huge demand for mining-capable cards. The first GTX 1xxx-based model to come out was the P106, which is basically a GTX 1060 without the display ports. Then, we had the P104 which is the GTX 1070 with memory optimized for mining. Eventually Nvidia is leaving the best for last.
Now after Windows is setup properly, download a tool called DDU,   That tool will uninstall your current driver and block Windows from automatically installing GPU drivers. That’s important so that Windows does not install an outdated driver! It will ask you to run in “safe mode” but that is not necessary. When you run the program just click on “Clean and restart”.

In all reality I could have gone on for days with this topic as crypto currencies have always fascinated me and I love configuring miners.  But like I said earlier on this isn’t a tutorial on how to setup a miner or a history lesson in GPU mining.  I’m not encouraging mining or giving advice on what to buy to mine with.  The most important idea going on here is to see how cards perform when hashing out for Ethereum to see where everyone stands since there seems to be quite a bit of buzz around it at the moment.  I can definitely see why people are snatching up all the RX 470/570s they can find.  The unfortunate side effect is skyrocketing prices for people who want one of the best value gaming cards that have come along in years.  But there will be a weekly follow up for the next month to this article centered around a single RX 470 to follow the profitability from day to day to track the volatility of the market and see what happens, so stick around for that one.
Theoretically, you could build an FPGA with 16gb or memory on 1 RAM controller, with a single processor, and run about 50 mh/s on 1 card. However the development cost is fairly high for that, and ethereum has been fighting off the PoS Ghost transition for 12+ months now. If anyone had known 1 year ago, that casper would not go into effect in October, they would have made such a card. Hindsight is 20/20. People think Casper will again be rolled out around november/december, and it’s july 1, so no one will invest 20+K to develop an FPGA/ASIC card for a coin that is going to proof of stake.
About a week ago I was hunting for a few Radeon cards for a project, specifically a second Nitro+ RX 570 for a crossfire comparison, needless to say I couldn’t find one and gave up.  A friend of mine said he was looking for a second RX 480 for his setup and that he couldn’t find one outside of crazy high prices, chalked that up to EOL on the RX 480s and told him to snag a similar RX 580.  He couldn’t find one of those either.  Thinking he just didn’t know how to search, since he’s not very computer savvy, I decided to help out.  That’s when things got interestingly and eerily similar to searching for a Radeon card in late 2013 – early 2014 back when I was deep into Litecoin and Feathercoin mining.  Then I came across Ethereum and everything became clear.  While I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on Ethereum I am no stranger to the world of crypto currencies. Having spent months on end tweaking GPU bat files for LTC and FTC while setting up ASIC miners for BTC, I decided to jump in on this one to see what the craze was all about!
When we saw the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 getting 27.4 MH/s in stock form we were impressed, but then the faster clocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 with more CUDA cores only got 20 MH/s. We talked to NVIDIA about this and they said it’s because the Ethereum base code fits the GDDR5 latency characteristics better than GDDR5X. So, when it comes to Ethereum mining a GeForce GTX 1070 is better to have than the GeForce GTX 1080. That said the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti uses GDDR5X memory and is getting 32 MH/s.
One of three things is going on here, either the person really does not know what they are talking about (e.g. hashrates for RX 400 & 500 series, the R9 only coming in 4gb, etc), or they are advertising for Nvidia, or they are attempting to get a sell off for AMD cards. I don’t mind because I have been able to get some good prices on AMD cards lately with one guy even saying that he was selling cards he just purchased brand new in December because their technology was becoming obsolete. Probably read this article and took it… Read more »
Once you’re mining, make sure you watch your rig. The first 24-48hours are essential and will determine if your system is stable or not. If it runs without problems during that period, then you should be fine. I’d recommend staying within reachable distance of your rig during this time as all sorts of issues can occur, and if you’re extremely unlucky, you could end up burning a building down.
Step 15 CPU mining: Type in ethminer and press “enter” and you will start mining with your CPU. Again you will need to create a DAG file the first time you do this which can take some time. But after that is complete your Geth program downloaded in step 1 should start talking to your ethminer program and you should start mining!
Already, major crypto currencies like BitCoin and Ethereum have skyrocketed in value after only being “invented” a few short years ago. Industry insiders, investment experts, and financial gurus around the world all believe that crypto currency is only just getting started.
This is pretty much a given. However, I thought I would mention it as it’s always best to start off with a clean installation. If you’re using more than 4 GPUs, then I’d recommend using Windows 10, or you will need to do some tweaks. If you’re going to use Windows 7 or 8, then also install the 6xGPU Mod software. An important fact to remember with fresh installations is that you should disable your computer from ever going to sleep or hibernating.

It is understood that the ethernet ETHASH algorithm used, originally designed for the memory bandwidth (band width), which is the demand for graphics chips. So it is suitable for PC mining, mining machine is not good at this. However, because Ether is likely to adopt a PoS proof of stack model by mid-2019, which will make the current mining machine more difficult to enforce, the continent will start designing a new type of mining machine, To meet after the market demand.
The takeaway here is that hashrate has followed (with some appreciable lag) the ETH price explosion, which began in late January 2016, saw some in late 2016, but then exploded again in Q2 2017.  What an amazing bull run! Up to almost $400 USD from just $10 USD in a few short months.
Even harder to find than the RX 480 is the AMD RX 470. A year ago, this was the absolute best card for mining. With a slight BIOS mod, it can do 29Mh/s while pulling 140 watts. Just like the other AMD cards listed, my favorite model is the AMD Sapphire RX 470 Nitro+ (Model #11256-10-20G).
In some cases, your motherboard BIOS might not be set-up correctly straight away. If you’re adding your GPUs one by one, and at one point your rig crashes, and you’ve eliminated GPU related issues, then it’s likely that your motherboard is the issue. Have a look around the forums for help, but often you will need a few settings changing. Personally, I’ve had experience with having to disable switch off some BIOS features and altering allocations, but system setups vary largely so I would say Google is your best friend.

  1. Geth is the program that communicates with the Ethereum Network and acts as the a relay between your computer, its hardware and the rest of the ethereum network computers so if a block is mined by another computer your Geth program will pick it up and then pass on the new information onto your GPU or CPU for mining.
Since the mining ‘craze’ has started, ASRock has produced motherboard aimed exactly at mining. It’s for this reason that arguably the best, and most popular motherboard to buy is the H81 Pro BTC or the H97 Anniversary.
Hey I have a question. Does Ethereum wallet ever gets fully synced? I’m running it for more that 3 days and now I got to the end and it wont sync at 100% cloud is at 69% and still some blocks left (currently 111) and it’s going up and down. I set up mining process successfully and got it to work (after solving antivirus problems that 5 times removed ethereum.exe…) I’m just curious about this wallet sync. Thanks
That’s correct, GPU will be discouraged due to the fact that the algorithm requires a lot of memory per thread. I’m pretty sure people will find ways around, but the goal is for dagger to continue adapting.
