It’s really just another way of thinking that demands people be more careful with their money. This is hardly a bad thing, but it’s definitely a major change from the “reverse-anything” banking world we have now.
The Ethereum vision is the building of a long lasting ecosystem through the development of a inclusive community of entrepreneurs, developers and investors working together to build the future of applications on decentralized networks, making a profound societal, financial and even yes – cultural impact.
The Radeon RX 480 is most arguably the most economical in terms of cost and saving electricity. Its power cost per day is significantly lower than the two that I have mentioned at $0.4320. Its hash rate is 25.0 MH/s, meaning its cost per MH/s is $7.96. This gives a return per day of $1.21 and therefore a return per year of $440.91. Radeon RX 480 will cost you $199.
get 80+gold or 80+platinum certified PSU’s ONLY. From my own experiences, I have heard many times that the cheap PSU’s caught on fire or even have melted, thus making serious damage to the motherboard.
While the ROI – Return on Investment can go past a year for the Ethereum mining GPUs that have been mentioned above, it can be reduced if you opt to use more than one GPU. You will not get much by using just one video card to mine, and so deciding to purchase more than one GPU will be the best thing to do. But before you fully venture into that, you should also make yourself aware of the profit your mining rig will bring as well as the amount of money that you will spend on the energy.
Companies such as AMD and Nvidia originally designed GPUs for better graphics. However, they recently saw a spike in demand from people wanting to use their chips to mine Ethereum. The price of high-end GPUs has skyrocketed and there’s now a massive shortage of gaming graphics cards. In order to protect gamers, some retailers are now limiting the quantities people are allowed to buy and giving discounts to those buying other components for an actual gaming rig, not a mining rig.
Nvidia GPU’s:  To get the latest Nvidia GeForce drivers go to https://www.geforce.com/drivers and then enter in your card info and click “Start Search” and then download the current version from the results.
After Bitcoin Cash (Bcash) forked from the Bitcoin blockchain to create a new cryptocurrency ( BCH ), and ahead of the SegWit2X fork that may do the same thing, a third Bitcoin fork is in the making: Bitcoin Gold (Bgold; BTG). But where Bcash and SegWit2X are scaling-related forks – both mainly increase Bitcoin’s block size limit – Bgold wants to re-decentralize mining by implementing a new proof-of-work algorithm.
The Ethereum mining difficulty had been steadily increasing since July but recently dropped from a high of ~3,000T to ~1,500T. This dip was caused by the Byzantine fork but isn’t as advantageous as it seems. Even though the difficulty decreased, the block reward also decreased from 5 ETH to 3 ETH effectively canceling out any benefit from the difficulty change.
10. If miner cannot generate DAG file, check environment variables (see Readme), check if your GPU has 3GB memory at least, and check if you have enough virtual memory (pagefile). If all this does not help, try to install more physical RAM.
Now is a good time to perform a quick test. Simply double-click your mine.bat file to launch the miner. It’ll take a minute or two before it actually starts mining, but it should get there eventually. When you see a scrolling log of outputs that includes non-zero hashrates (expect hashrates in the low to mid 20s for unoptimized GPUs), you’re good to go. If the script fails to start, or you see errors, make sure that you’ve created the script exactly as outlined in the guide.
3) Choose a memorable download folder for the “Ethereum Wallet” zip file. Extract it with a suitable file extraction tool, navigate to the new folder the extractor creates and then locate and run the Ethereum app.
Want to know how to mine Ethereum using Windows 10? This video is a full tutorial for beginners that will teach you how to get started mining Ethereum using either an Nvidia or AMD graphics card. Setup a wallet, download and install the latest versions of software (Claymore), and join a mining pool (Nanopool).
Graphics cards were all run at their out of the box configurations without any modification whatsoever.  While we are aware that if you are going to set up a dedicated mining system you are likely going to run a modified vBIOS on your card we simply wanted to see the natural performance of these cards. Radeon and GeForce cards were run on the latest drivers at the time of this article.

  1. The estimated expected cryptocurrency earnings are based on a statistical calculation using the values entered and do not account for difficulty and exchange rate fluctuations, stale/reject/orphan rates, and a pool’s efficiency. If you are mining using a pool, the estimated expected cryptocurrency earnings can vary greatly depending on the pool’s efficiency, stale/reject/orphan rate, and fees. If you are mining solo, the estimated expected cryptocurrency earnings can vary greatly depending on your luck and stale/reject/orphan rate.
Power Supply: Your system is going to be running 24/7 and using close to 1000 Watts of power non-stop,  so you’ll want to drop some coin on a good model. We highly suggest an 80 PLUS Platinum rated power supply that is 1200W or greater. We’ve used the Enermax Platimax 1350W ($239.99 shipped) with good success. If you plan on undervolting the GPU and reducing the power consumption you should be able to get away with a 1,000 Watt power supply. The EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 is solid 80 PLUS platinum model for $213.72 shipped or you can go with a lower cost Corsair RM1000x that is 80 PLUS gold certified for $159.99 shipped. Depending on the model you get and the model of video card that you are running you might need to get some SATA to 8-pin PCIe power adapters to connect all the video cards. If you plan on running two power supplies on one system you might want to pick up a dual power supply connector to power up and shut down both power supplies like normal.
However, the cost of mining is far from free in this modern day digital gold rush. Hardware costs and energy consumption represent real financial commitment. Regardless, if you build your own systems or are a PC enthusiast, there’s a good chance you have the spare parts lying around to slap a mining rig together and get cracking.
If you have a GPU with 2GB of memory and receive the following error: “Allocating/mapping single buffer failed with: clCreateBuffer(-61). GPU can’t allocate the DAG in a single chunk. Bailing.” You can try setting the GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT environment variable to 100 by running in the command line the following command before the miner: SET GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT=100 to see if it will fix the problem.
