-epool is the mining pool you are mining on, it’s just a persona preference,                        some people like to use nanopool, some like dwarfpool, ethermine, you can use whatever pool you like. Be careful what pool you are using, it should be based on your location, it would make no sense to mine on an European pool if you are in America because of the high ping. Always use the pool that is close to you (nanopool,dwarfpool,ethermine and others have mostly location specific pools, you can’t miss them, they mostly start with eu, us or asia. Ever since I’m building new cryptocurrency mining rigs I’m including SSD rather than HDD. The reason is SSD is fast and by using SSD I would increase the transfer speed and decrease the time. Also, other things that I think about SSD are – They use less power consuming and also if you are starting up your mining rig the boot time is reduced and soon you will be mining.
Bitcoin mining and Ethereum mining are quite different. Ethereum’s development team is more centralized and can therefore can plan and implement POW changes. The Ethereum development team currently has plans to change Ethereum from proof of work to proof of stake. Changes to the mining algorithm are much harder to implement with Bitcoin and aren’t likely to happen.
Also, this calculator shows that DAG size will only reach the point to render 3GB unusable around the end of this year (block ~6.9 million, epoch 231), not epoch 180 like shown in the article. Not sure which to trust…
Step 4: Command Prompt is now open – and can look terrifying to people who aren’t familiar with it. The Command Prompt box usually has C:\Users\Username> showing in it – where Username is your username – so if you log into your computer with the username cryptocompare then the command prompt box will open with C:\Users\cryptocompare>. You need to tell the computer to look in another place Type cd / into the newly opened command prompt. You should now see “C:\>”, You have just used the cd command or “change directory” command to make command prompt look at the C:/ drive.

Note that your Ethereum mining software will treat the HD 7990 as two separate GPUs with 3Gb RAM each, and miners with 2Gb GPUs have recently encountered some problems with the growing DAG file size 2Gb cards stopped working – 13/03/2016.
Now make 6 “New” profiles and name them gpu1, gpu2… gpu6 and each profile will represent the GPU it’s attached to, so for example, we are using the “-p1” GPU to the profile “gpu1” and so on. You need to make so many profiles as you have mining GPU’s (all GPU’s except the Integrated one)
can someone please for the love of all holy help me find the download for ethminer??!!!! the github site is total garbage and for the uninitiated cannot navigate or find what i need! i download what i think is the install file but when i run it it just opens a CMD!!!!

Step 16 Hashing Power benchmark: If you want to get an estimation of your hashing power you can run ethminer -M (for CPU mining) or ethminer -G -M (for GPU mining). The command will run and you should get a result similar to the image bellow.

  1. Some of my GPU’s can only be reduced to 70% power draw limit, if I go under that limit I lose heavy on ethereum hashrate, so keep an eye on that. In my case it happened because on some GPU’s I can’t get the Core Clock to work above 50 MHz without a crash or freeze. That’s probably because they are low quality cheap GPU’s. On most NVIDIA cards this setting should work properly.
    If the Ethereum Platform is rapidly adopted, the demand for ETH could rise dramatically and at a pace that exceeds the rate with which ETH miners can create new ETH tokens. Under such a scenario, the entire Ethereum Platform could become destabilized, due to the increased cost of running distributed applications. In turn, this could dampen interest in the Ethereum Platform and ETH. Instability in the demand of for ETH may lead to a negative change of the economical parameters of an Ethereum based business which could result in the business being unable to continue to operate economically or to cease operation.
    Furthermore, since ethereum aims to transition from proof-of-work mining to ‘proof of stake’ – which we discuss below – buying an ASIC might not be a smart option since it likely won’t prove useful for long.
    There are many tutorials and how-tos out there when it comes to mining Ethereum – and many of them are contradicting each other. Newcomers tend to quickly lose their motivation wading through all of this, which is why we prepared a quick and dirty tutorial on how to transform a Windows 10 PC with two Radeon RX 480s into a working mining rig. This rig will reliably crunch at 51 Megahashes a second (MH/s), which currently earns you above 300 euros a month. You do have to subtract electricity costs from this, however – in Gemany this would be around 80 euros a month. Please be aware that the ETH price is liable to collapse at some point. You probably shouldn’t be buying GPUs just for mining, then. Carefully think about how much you’ll spend and would earn in return before embarking on this project.
